Samsung promises the Galaxy S25 Ultra seven generations of Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, counted from the phone’s global launch date. The company does not specify an exact final update date, and rollout timing may vary by device model, network provider, and market.
What Samsung’s seven-year promise includes
Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series announcement states that the phones will receive seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. The Galaxy S25 Ultra environmental report gives the support period as running from the global launch date.

- Android OS upgrades: seven generations. Samsung does not name the future Android versions in its commitment.
- Security updates: seven years from global launch. The cited policy does not promise a fixed patch-release frequency for the full period.
These are separate parts of the commitment: “seven generations” describes OS upgrades, while “seven years” describes the security-update period.

When does support end?
Samsung provides a support duration, not a guaranteed calendar date for the last security patch. Counting seven years from the global launch gives an approximate timeframe, but it should not be treated as Samsung’s confirmed cutoff date.

Samsung also says update timing may vary by device model, network provider, and market. That means the commitment does not guarantee that every S25 Ultra receives each update at the same time.
Which Android version does it start with?
Samsung’s US business specification sheet lists Android 15 and One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This identifies its listed software at launch; it does not establish the final Android version the phone will receive.
