For a first mobile live stream, YouTube says it may take up to 24 hours after you turn on live streaming before you can start. That is an activation wait, not a guaranteed phone-verification time or a promise that every channel will become eligible. YouTube’s help pages do not specify a separate wait for Indian channels.
Which “verification” do you mean?
YouTube uses several separate steps that creators may all call verification. Knowing which one is pending helps explain the wait.

| Stage | What it does | What YouTube says about timing |
|---|---|---|
| Phone verification | You enter a phone number and confirm a code sent by text or voice call. It unlocks intermediate features, including computer live streaming subject to a daily limit. | YouTube says the code should arrive immediately, but carrier delays can happen. |
| Live-stream activation | You turn on live streaming for the channel. This is the step associated with YouTube’s first-mobile-stream wait. | YouTube says you may need to wait up to 24 hours before starting your first mobile live stream. |
| Advanced-feature identity review | If offered, you can submit ID or a video for advanced feature access, or build sufficient channel history. | YouTube says ID and video reviews usually take 24 hours. This is separate from the first-mobile-stream wait. |
The 24-hour figures describe different processes: one is a possible wait before a first mobile stream; the other is YouTube’s usual review time for an ID or video submission. Neither should be treated as a universal verification turnaround.
Requirements for live streaming
YouTube’s general requirements include a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. Mobile streaming has additional requirements:
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat mode
- Crisp HD 720p/30 fps video calls with diagonal 55° field of view and auto light correction. Compatible with popular platforms including Skype and Zoom.
- The built-in noise-reducing mic makes sure your voice comes across clearly up to 1.5 meters away, even if you’re in busy surroundings.
- C270’s RightLight 2 feature adjusts to lighting conditions, producing brighter, contrasted images to help you look good in all your conference calls.
- The adjustable universal clip lets you attach the camera securely to your screen or laptop, or fold the clip and set the webcam on a shelf. You’re always ready for your next video call.
- At least 50 subscribers.
- Channel verification.
- No live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- Live streaming turned on, followed by the possible first-stream activation wait.
If you are streaming from a computer, the mobile subscriber threshold does not apply as a stated mobile requirement, but the general channel and restriction requirements still matter.
What is specific to Indian channels?
YouTube offers India-based channels a phone-verification step for intermediate features. After completing it, the channel receives a “phone verified” label on its About page that is visible to users in India. YouTube says the label was introduced to comply with India’s Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

YouTube’s India-specific information does not give Indian channels a separate live-stream activation queue or a different 24-hour estimate. The India label is not a separate estimate for when live streaming will become available.

- In YouTube Studio, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Check whether the relevant feature is enabled or whether YouTube is asking for another step.
- Confirm that the channel has no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. If you want to stream from mobile, also confirm that it has at least 50 subscribers.
- If you have not completed phone verification, request the code and enter it in YouTube’s verification flow. Codes can arrive by text or voice call.
- If a text has not arrived after a few minutes, try the voice-call option. Some operators do not support Google texts or calls. YouTube also limits a phone number to verification of no more than two channels per year.
- If Studio asks for advanced-feature verification, treat that as a separate process. ID or video review usually takes 24 hours according to YouTube; those options are not available to everyone.
- Once the feature is enabled, allow up to 24 hours for a first mobile live stream to become available.
If you still cannot go live
- Feature eligibility is not enabled: Complete the step shown in Studio, then check the feature status again. The activation wait does not override eligibility requirements.
- The code does not arrive: Try voice call, check that your number can receive the message or call, and account for carrier delays. Do not repeatedly assume a delayed code means live streaming itself is under review.
- You have fewer than 50 subscribers: You do not meet YouTube’s stated threshold for mobile live streaming. This is not a verification delay.
- The channel has a recent live-stream restriction: YouTube lists having no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days as a requirement. A streaming tool or new equipment cannot bypass a platform restriction.
- You submitted ID or video: This is advanced-feature review, distinct from phone verification and mobile live-stream activation. YouTube says those reviews usually take 24 hours, but does not describe that as a guaranteed completion time.
- The first mobile stream is not available yet: If live streaming has just been turned on and the other requirements are met, wait for the stated window of up to 24 hours before treating it as an unexplained failure.
For keeping a YouTube stream running after access is granted
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube 24/7. It does not verify a channel, grant eligibility, or shorten YouTube’s activation or review times. Once your channel can stream, you upload a recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live; the cloud keeps the stream running without leaving a computer on. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
