What does the MoGo 4’s battery-life rating mean?
XGIMI’s product specifications give the MoGo 4 a built-in battery capacity of 71.28 Wh and rate it for up to 2.5 hours of video playback in Eco Mode. The phrase “up to” matters: XGIMI describes its figures as theoretical results from internal laboratory tests under particular conditions. Actual performance can vary with configuration, software version, applications, environment and use.

That means 2.5 hours is a useful planning reference, not a promise that every unit will run a particular film from start to finish. It is also specifically a video-projection figure in Eco Mode. A brighter picture uses more power and reduces playtime, but XGIMI’s cited product information does not give a runtime chart for individual brightness settings. There is no supported way to convert a chosen brightness level into a precise number of minutes.
XGIMI says the projector automatically enters Eco Mode at startup when it is not plugged in. If you change to a brighter display mode, expect battery life to fall below the Eco Mode maximum; the size of that reduction is not specified in the cited information.

How long can you watch a movie?
For a movie night on the built-in battery, use 2.5 hours as the best-case manufacturer reference if you leave Eco Mode enabled. A shorter film may fit within that rating, but the rating does not guarantee a full viewing in every situation: the actual runtime varies, and increasing brightness reduces it. If you need a dependable longer session, plan for an external power option rather than treating the maximum as a reserve.
The important distinction is between the projector’s rated maximum and the runtime your own setup will deliver. XGIMI does not publish, in the cited specifications, a brightness-by-brightness table or a guaranteed minimum runtime. So there is no evidence-based way to promise, for example, a particular number of hours at a specific non-Eco setting.

Video and music have different battery ratings
The MoGo 4 has a separate rating for audio-only use: up to 6 hours of music playback when all projector lighting features are off and volume is at or below 50%. This is not a six-hour projection estimate. It applies to listening without the lighting features, under the stated volume condition.

Ways to extend video runtime
Keep Eco Mode enabled
For the longest run from the built-in battery, leave the projector in Eco Mode. XGIMI says it enters that mode automatically on startup when operating unplugged. If you select a brighter picture, you are trading runtime for brightness. The official information does not quantify the trade-off by setting, so the only supported expectation is that brighter viewing reduces playtime.

In practice, decide whether the viewing conditions require a brighter image before the session begins. If you need the extra brightness, plan around a shorter session or bring a compatible power source. Do not assume that a small adjustment will have a particular runtime effect: XGIMI does not publish those figures.
Use the MoGo 4 PowerBase Stand
XGIMI’s PowerBase Stand for MoGo 4 Series is the clearest accessory option for a longer video session. The manufacturer rates it for up to 5 hours of video playback in Eco Mode when both the projector and the stand are fully charged. The stand has a 20,000 mAh battery, is sold separately and is specified as compatible only with the MoGo 4 series.

The five-hour figure is a combined-use claim with stated conditions; it should not be interpreted as five additional hours on top of the projector’s built-in battery rating. XGIMI presents it as up to five hours of playback with both devices fully charged. If you are considering the stand, check that your projector is a MoGo 4 series model and charge both units before relying on the claimed maximum.
Power the projector with a suitable third-party source
XGIMI says a third-party power bank or adapter should provide 65–150 W. It lists output profiles of 65 W at 20 V/3.25 A or 100 W at 20 V/5 A. Those figures are more useful than a power bank’s capacity label alone: a USB-C connector does not by itself establish that the bank can deliver the voltage and current the projector needs.

- Check the cable as well as the port. Verify that the cable and connection support the selected output. Do not assume a cable that charges a phone is suitable for powering the projector at the required rate.
- Use the source’s documented output mode. If the bank lists several voltage/current combinations, make sure the one available through your chosen port matches XGIMI’s guidance. Where its specifications are unclear, do not assume compatibility.
- Test the setup before you need it. Connect the source and confirm that it powers the projector as expected before taking it to a location without mains power. The cited specifications do not establish compatibility for every third-party bank, adapter or cable combination.
XGIMI lists a broader recommended power range of 65–150 W alongside the specific 65 W and 100 W profiles. That does not mean every product described as a USB-C power bank will work. No particular third-party model is established as compatible here, so choose by verified output specifications rather than a brand name or capacity figure.

The PowerBase has a stated runtime claim, while XGIMI’s third-party power guidance describes electrical requirements rather than a projected viewing duration. The cited information does not say how many extra hours a particular external bank will provide, so that depends on the source and setup and cannot be calculated from the requirements alone.
What independent testing adds—and what it does not
PC Gamer’s review of the MoGo 4 Laser lists 2.5 hours of battery runtime and reports just under six hours in audio-only mode without ambient lighting. The review also describes the Outdoor Collection configuration with its PowerBase stand as extending viewing to around five hours. Those observations provide context for that Laser review configuration, but they are not an independent test of every standard MoGo 4 unit.
For the standard MoGo 4, XGIMI’s product specifications remain the direct source for the built-in-battery and accessory claims. Keep the model distinction in mind when using review observations: “MoGo 4 Laser” findings should not be generalized to every MoGo 4 configuration.
A practical plan for a longer session
- For a short, unplugged video session: Start in Eco Mode and treat up to 2.5 hours as a best-case reference, not a guaranteed result.
- For more than the built-in rating: Consider the MoGo 4 series PowerBase Stand, and begin with both it and the projector fully charged if you are planning around XGIMI’s up-to-five-hour Eco Mode claim.
- For a third-party source: Verify the actual port’s voltage/current profile against XGIMI’s listed requirements, and check the cable rather than relying on USB-C connector type alone.
- For listening without projection: The separate up-to-six-hour music rating applies only with all projector lighting features off and volume no higher than 50%.
These choices address different needs: Eco Mode prioritizes the built-in battery’s video runtime, the PowerBase is a MoGo 4 series accessory with a published combined-use claim, and a third-party source is viable only when its output is verified. XGIMI’s figures are maxima under particular conditions, so leave margin if a session must not be interrupted.
