Plan for about 21 hours to complete The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening on Nintendo Switch. That is the completionist average currently displayed by Deku Deals from HowLongToBeat; it is an estimate, not a guaranteed time or an official Nintendo figure.
How the playtime estimates compare
The displayed HowLongToBeat averages separate a story clear from play that includes optional content:

| Play style | Average time |
|---|---|
| Main story | 14 hours |
| Main story plus extras | 16½ hours |
| Completionist | 21 hours |
Deku Deals does not state when those underlying playtime submissions were made or the exact criteria HowLongToBeat uses for “completionist.” Treat the figures as useful planning benchmarks, not a dated study or a precise prediction for an individual save.

There is no single official in-game 100% checklist. A broad fan-maintained Switch checklist and walkthrough combines the main collectibles and upgrades with optional mode content and challenges. Its core targets include:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- All 32 Pieces of Heart and nine Heart Containers, for 20 hearts total.
- All 50 Secret Seashells, all three Fairy Bottles, the Boomerang, the traded item, and inventory upgrades.
- All 10 Trendy Game figures, all Stone Beaks, all 10 warp points, and the Color Dungeon.
- All 24 Chamber Dungeons, 14 Chamber Stones, five +Effect Panels and chamber indicators, the extra Key Cavern Small Key, all three fishing lures, apple interactions, revealed map buildings, and interactions with every Owl Statue.
The same checklist marks all five amiibo Chambers and the +Shadow Link panel as optional, and includes deathless completion in both Normal and Hero Mode in its broadest target. Those additions can push a particularly expansive run beyond the usual completionist estimate.
Why a 100% run can take longer than 21 hours
“Completionist” is not a universal scope. One player may mean collecting the standard upgrades and collectibles; another may also complete every Chamber Dungeon, pursue optional amiibo content, and meet challenge conditions such as finishing without deaths. The 21-hour listing does not specify which of those targets its category includes, so it is best used as a broad benchmark rather than a time limit for the fullest checklist.

Chamber Dungeon content is a Switch feature: Nintendo describes it as arranging chambers from dungeons into layouts with objectives, and says Zelda-series amiibo can unlock exclusive Chambers. Nintendo’s game listing identifies the Switch release as September 20, 2019, and also notes a free Switch 2 update for optimized visuals and HDR. The time estimate here is for the Switch game; those visual updates do not establish a different completion-time benchmark.

- Choose your scope first. For a standard completionist run, use the 21-hour displayed average as a starting point and decide whether you are including every Chamber Dungeon and challenge condition.
- Track collectibles as you play. The Zelda Dungeon walkthrough covers the run, bosses, dungeons, heart pieces, Secret Seashells, and upgrades, making it a practical reference for avoiding missed objectives.
- Leave extra time for optional targets. Amiibo Chambers, the +Shadow Link panel, and deathless clears belong to the broadest interpretation rather than a universally agreed definition of 100%.
Why some reports show a shorter time
GameSpot’s Peter Brown reported finishing in roughly 15 hours while collecting about half of the collectible seashells and Pieces of Heart. He described the profile-hour count as rough because the game did not provide a completely accurate clock. That is one person’s partial-collection playthrough, not a full 100% result, so it is not directly comparable to the aggregate 21-hour completionist average. See Brown’s GameSpot review.
