The 25–35-hour figure is specifically for the main story. The approximately 30-hour estimate describes the core experience, while the longer ballpark accounts for completionist play. These are developer estimates, not times calculated from a survey of players or a reproducible completion test.

Remedy describes CONTROL Resonant as a game with large, distinct Manhattan zones, side activities, hidden encounters, and optional discoveries. What can add time after the story
New Game Plus gives players a reason to return: many earned upgrades and abilities carry over, although traversal abilities remain tied to story progression. Remedy also points to World Quests, bounties, collectibles, and different outcomes in some side stories and conversations as things players may revisit or seek out. Those options support the distinction between a story run and a longer completionist or replay run, but they do not establish a precise 100% checklist or completion time. Do you need to play the first Control?
No. Mohov says CONTROL Resonant is playable without first finishing Control, though playing the earlier game can enrich the story. He also says Resonant includes a recap at the top of the main menu for players who want the background without replaying the original.
