The Galaxy S25 series is promised seven generations of Android OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, counted from its global launch. Samsung says rollout timing can vary by model, network provider and market. For the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, the Samsung launch materials reviewed here confirm Android 16 and One UI 8 at launch but do not state how long either phone will receive OS or security updates.
Update support by model

What Samsung’s seven-and-seven promise means for the S25
Samsung’s wording is “seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch date.” The two figures describe different things: generations count eligible major OS upgrades, while years describe the stated security-update period. They do not specify an exact calendar date for each future Android release.

Samsung also qualifies delivery timing: it may vary by device model, network provider and market. The commitment therefore does not mean every eligible S25 receives each update on the same day. Samsung’s September 15, 2025 One UI 8 rollout announcement included the S25 series, but a dated rollout notice is not a schedule for every future OS or security update.

What is—and is not—confirmed for Fold7 and Flip7
Samsung’s Fold7 and Flip7 launch specifications establish the software version each phone shipped with, not the number of future Android upgrades or years of security updates. The Fold7 announcement also says general availability began July 25, 2025; that availability date alone does not establish when an update-support clock starts.
