Lenovo supported the production environment for DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island, but no source has identified the specific Lenovo workstation or server models used on the film. The confirmed picture is a studio-wide technology partnership spanning artist workstations, high-performance computing, data-center infrastructure and support services—not a claim that one computer created the movie.
What Lenovo’s role in Forgotten Island is confirmed to be
Lenovo said in May 2025 that DreamWorks Animation had named it a preferred provider of compute services, workstations and solutions. Its announcement included Forgotten Island among the projects supported by that technology foundation, then scheduled for September 2026. A 2 October 2026 report by Marketing-Interactive, quoting representatives of both companies, subsequently said Lenovo supported production of the feature.

The scope described is an ecosystem: Lenovo ThinkStation and ThinkPad P Series workstations for production work, ThinkSystem servers and high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure, TruScale infrastructure-as-a-service, Premier Support Plus and professional services. The sources do not specify which of those products or services were deployed for this film, or identify a particular machine used by its artists.
That distinction matters. Lenovo’s involvement is described as technology and production-workflow support. It does not establish that Lenovo made the film, that a named workstation rendered it, or that the production used AI to generate imagery.

How studio technology supports animated-film production
Workstations for artists
Workstations are the computers artists use to build and work with production assets. DreamWorks technology executive Bill Ballew has described the goal as keeping workflows responsive to artists’ creative decisions: hardware should help them work at the speed of their thought process. That explains why workstation performance matters to production, but it does not reveal the setup used on Forgotten Island.
Shared compute and data-center infrastructure
Animation production also depends on shared compute capacity and data-center systems, which serve needs beyond an individual artist’s workstation. Lenovo’s account of its DreamWorks relationship includes ThinkSystem servers and HPC infrastructure as well as workstations. Its announcement said DreamWorks was researching AI with Lenovo to improve pipeline efficiency, while stating that DreamWorks was not using AI for image generation at that time. That statement describes the company’s position in May 2025; it is not a film-specific disclosure.

Services and capacity
Support services and infrastructure-as-a-service can be part of the technology relationship alongside physical hardware. Lenovo listed TruScale, Premier Support Plus and professional services in its partnership announcement. The public accounts do not explain which services, if any, were applied specifically to this film.

A 2021 Lenovo announcement named the ThinkStation P620 and P920 as part of DreamWorks’ broader workstation relationship. Lenovo said DreamWorks had tested the P620 for its workflows. This is evidence of a historical product-category connection, not confirmation that either model was used to make Forgotten Island.

For readers asking whether DreamWorks used Lenovo technology on the film, the supported answer is yes at the level of production-environment support; the available sources do not identify the exact film hardware. A Lenovo ThinkStation is a relevant example of the workstation category in the studio partnership, but a consumer purchase of that category would not reproduce DreamWorks’ wider studio infrastructure.

The film and its creative context
Marketing-Interactive’s October 2026 report describes Forgotten Island as following friends Jo and Raissa to Nakali, a fantastical island populated by magical and mythological creatures rooted in Filipino family stories. It identifies Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado as writer-directors and Mark Swift as producer.
DreamWorks executive Kate Swanborg said the production offered a chance to build a world inspired by Filipino culture and mythology, and that technology partners such as Lenovo supported the production environment while teams created its characters, settings and scenes. At the report’s publication on 2 October 2026, the film was showing in cinemas nationwide in the Philippines; that time- and territory-specific report does not establish its exhibition status elsewhere or its streaming availability.
