Lenovo Smart Clock uses Google Assistant, and Google says local weather requests use the address set for the selected Google Home unless you ask about another place. Lenovo and Google’s reviewed documentation do not identify the weather forecast provider behind the clock, so the source of the meteorological data is not established.
How the clock chooses a location for weather
Lenovo says its Smart Clock is set up through the Google Home app and uses Google Assistant. Weather is one of the clock’s features, including in the Good Morning routine. Google’s documented default is the address assigned to the selected home in Google Home: local weather, time, and place requests use that address unless you specify another location. Google explains how home addresses are used.

This means the clock’s default weather location is associated with its Google Home setup, not necessarily the place where you are holding your phone. The setting applies to devices in the selected home, so first make sure you are editing the home that contains the clock.

- Open the Google Home app and confirm that the selected Google Account is the one linked to the clock.
- Open Home settings and select the home where the clock is set up.
- Open Home address, edit the address, and save it. Google says the change applies to devices in that home. App labels may vary as Google updates its interface. See Google’s instructions for changing a home address.
If the address is correct but local answers are still unexpected, check Assistant’s saved personal places as a separate setting. Google documents the path on Android as Google Home app → You → Your places. Google also says allowing current-location access can improve local answers on a phone; its documentation does not establish phone location permission as the direct location source for a Lenovo Smart Clock. Test whether the default location is the problem
Ask the clock, “What’s the weather?” and then ask, “What’s the weather in Chicago?” (or another named city). Google documents that a specified place can override the default. If the named-city request works while the unqualified request gives weather for the wrong place, that points toward the default location setting; it does not rule out account synchronization or other service problems.

Lenovo identifies these as separate products. Both require power and an active Wi-Fi connection for Assistant use, but instructions for one model should not automatically be applied to the other. What to do if weather is missing, stale, or incorrect
- Check the selected Google Account and home address. Make sure the clock is associated with the account and home whose address you reviewed.
- Check Wi-Fi and power. Lenovo says an active Wi-Fi connection and power are required for Assistant use.
- Restart the clock. For the Smart Clock Essential, Lenovo’s FAQ says to unplug it, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect it. Identify your model before using any model-specific guidance.
- Reserve a factory reset for later. Lenovo describes reset as a setup troubleshooting step; the documentation does not establish it as a universal fix for weather display problems.
Users have reported missing temperature or weather displays and incorrect postcodes on Smart Clock Essential devices in community discussions. Those reports describe individual symptoms, not a verified general defect or confirmed backend cause. One community discussion describes a missing weather display; another reports an incorrect postcode.

What is—and is not—known about the forecast data
The official Lenovo and Google material cited here describes the Assistant setup, weather feature, and location behavior, but does not name the meteorological provider or forecast feed used by Lenovo Smart Clock. There is no established provider setting for the user to select in these sources. Avoid treating a particular weather company or app as confirmed unless Lenovo or Google documents that connection.
