Why does Park see foldables as a test of technology leadership?
Park says foldable phones should be judged by whether more people adopt them, not only by the number sold. He told 91mobiles that foldables account for more than 20 percent of Samsung’s flagship sales in India. That is a share of Samsung’s own flagship sales, not a measure of India’s overall foldable market.

Awareness and useful reasons to switch
Park identifies consumer awareness and clear use cases as barriers to broader adoption. He argues that people need to see what a foldable lets them do before its form factor alone will persuade them to buy one. He also expects more competition to raise awareness of the category, though that is his outlook rather than a demonstrated market outcome.

An affordable FE foldable is not confirmed
Asked about a less expensive Fan Edition foldable, Park did not confirm a product. He said Samsung was watching consumer response and could consider one if the category became ready. The interview establishes no model, launch date, or price.

How does Samsung say it is taking premium phones beyond metros?
Park says 65 percent of Samsung’s flagship-device sales in India come from tier 2, tier 3, and rural markets. He also says the company ships to 18,000 postal codes, works with more than 80,000 small, independent retailers, and has roughly 20,000 in-store promoters. These are figures attributed to Park in the interview, not independently checked distribution or sales data.
Park credits broad distribution and consumer education with faster rural growth in percentage terms. The account gives no underlying sales series or comparison period, so it does not establish how large that growth is or how it compares with other companies. His point is that premium-device sales are no longer confined to large cities and that retail presence is part of the effort to extend their reach.
How does Park frame rising device costs and affordability?
Park says memory and other component costs were rising across the industry. He told 91mobiles: “Samsung has been absorbing more of the cost increase than competitors over the past eight months”. This is his description of Samsung’s approach during the eight months before the interview, not a comparison supported by company-level cost data in the report.

He expected memory-price pressure to keep pushing device prices higher for another year or two. That was his forecast at the July 2026 interview, not a current price forecast. Park’s rationale is that customers treat a smartphone as a multi-year purchase, so he favors limiting abrupt price changes where possible.
EMIs and Galaxy Forever
Park said Samsung bears the interest component on flagship EMIs for 24 to 30 months in India’s open market. The report also describes Galaxy Forever as offering no-cost EMI and an upgrade or return option with an assured buyback value. It does not establish that these terms are currently offered, who is eligible, or the conditions attached to a specific purchase. Check the current offer and its terms before relying on either arrangement.
What does Samsung’s India R&D team work on?
Park describes a division of responsibilities: hardware architecture and design largely come from Korea, while Samsung’s Noida and Bengaluru centres focus on software, AI, and research into Indian consumer needs. This is his account of the company’s work allocation, not an independently audited map of its engineering operations.

He cited Pay Now, a Samsung Wallet feature for bill-payment reminders and payments, as an example of local engineering responding to local needs. The report said it would launch for Indian consumers on the newly introduced foldables. It does not establish the feature’s present release status or availability, so that launch description should not be read as confirmation that it is currently accessible.
Will Galaxy AI remain free?
Park describes Galaxy AI at the time of the interview as largely running on-device and included in the cost of the device, with some cloud functions delivered through partners. He expects everyday baseline features to remain free, while suggesting that heavier professional use of cloud tools could eventually involve a partner subscription. In that scenario, he said, the subscription would belong to the partner platform rather than amount to a new Samsung Galaxy AI paywall.
The interview does not announce a subscription, identify a partner plan, or set a price. Treat Park’s remarks as a possible future model, not a change that has been launched or a guarantee about the terms of every current or future AI feature.

Why does Samsung use devices like TriFold to make its case?
Park says a TriFold does not make economic sense today, but can demonstrate the company’s technology capabilities. He argues that costs could fall as components scale and other manufacturers enter the category. He also mentioned rollable or TriFold-style devices as possibilities, not confirmed product plans. The interview provides no financial evidence about TriFold profitability or its commercial availability.
More broadly, Park presents phones, watches, tablets, appliances, and displays as parts of an ecosystem. He also points to seven years of OS upgrades as a way to support the value of a device over time. These are strategic arguments from the interview, not comparative tests establishing that Samsung’s ecosystem or support is superior to alternatives.
What does Park say about Galaxy Watch health features and compatibility?
Park frames preventive health as a long-term direction for wearables and mentions non-invasive blood-sugar tracking as an industry aspiration. He does not describe it as an available Galaxy Watch feature. His comments should not be taken as evidence that a Galaxy Watch can currently measure blood sugar.

On compatibility, Park said Galaxy Watch can pair with other Android devices or iOS through Samsung Health, while advanced functions such as ECG and blood pressure may depend on hardware enablement. This is not a blanket compatibility guarantee: supported phones, features, regulatory clearances, and availability can vary by device and region. Check Samsung’s current documentation for the particular watch, phone, feature, and country.
How does Samsung’s internal structure affect the strategy?
Park describes Samsung’s Device Experience and Device Solutions divisions as operating independently and competing over component allocations and pricing. He also points to competition in appliances and air conditioners as pressure on consumer electronics. These are management characterizations from the interview, not a substitute for financial reporting or a detailed account of how internal decisions are made.
