Before implementation, agree with the client on the coverage: important routes or components, meaningful states, target browsers, and viewport sizes. Include responsive layouts where they are part of the delivery requirement. A screenshot check can only reveal differences in the states and environments actually captured. Connect screenshot review to pull requests
- Establish a baseline. Capture the agreed screens or component variants in the chosen browser and viewport configurations. Treat the baseline as the reference for later comparisons, not as proof that every detail has already received design approval.
- Run captures in CI. Configure the selected integration to run when relevant code changes. Happo documents CI use and pull-request review links; exact setup depends on the client’s integration and CI configuration.
- Inspect the comparison. Review the before-and-after screenshots using the available side-by-side, highlighted-difference, or swipe views. Identify where the rendered result changed.
- Classify each difference. The developer explains whether the change is expected. The client’s design or product reviewer confirms whether it is acceptable against the approved work. Fix unintended changes or document acceptance of intended ones before approval.
- Update the reference deliberately. When an approved design change is ready, accept the new appearance as the reference for future runs. Avoid treating every new screenshot as automatically correct.
Make visual checks stable and useful
Browser captures can vary for reasons unrelated to the code under review. Happo documents controls for silencing animations, waiting for assets and fonts, and setting color-delta tolerance. Use these controls to reduce noise while keeping the comparison sensitive enough to catch real regressions. Also check whether external images, fonts, or other changing resources are making results inconsistent.

- Fonts and assets: wait until required resources are ready before capturing.
- Small pixel differences: use color-delta tolerance carefully; overly permissive settings can hide subtle defects.
- Network-dependent content: investigate changing external requests or data when the same state produces inconsistent images.
- Coverage: include the relevant browser and viewport combinations rather than inferring that one capture represents every user environment.
Happo’s accessibility regression checks can run alongside screenshot tests. Treat their output as an automated signal, not a substitute for a full manual accessibility evaluation or design sign-off.

Control snapshot volume and costs
Happo’s pricing model counts snapshots; its pricing page defines a snapshot as one component variant in one browser, with visual and accessibility checks combined. More variants and browser targets can therefore increase usage. The vendor says its own Storybook build reduced snapshot volume by 40% after using the --only flag to render stories affected by a pull request. That is a Happo-reported internal result, not a result established for an Indian agency.

For planning, estimate the number of captured variants across the browsers and runs you intend to keep, then compare that expected volume with the current plan allowances. Keep broad coverage for important screens, but avoid repeatedly rendering unaffected stories when the integration can narrow a run.

What Indian agencies should verify
The reviewed Happo materials do not identify Indian agency customers or establish India-specific onboarding, pricing, or support arrangements. They describe an international service and mention web agencies in Brazil, which should not be presented as evidence of adoption in India. An agency considering Happo should confirm commercial terms and support expectations directly with the vendor rather than assume local arrangements.
