ScreenshotAPI supports bulk client-site captures through CSV and JSON: CSV suits spreadsheet-led work, while JSON fits scripts and reporting pipelines. The documented JSON batch limit is 50 URLs per request; CSV bulk capture is described as a paid-tier feature. For an agency, the reliable workflow is to validate URLs, standardize capture settings, monitor completion, and check failures and files before sending a report.
Choose CSV or JSON for the batch
| Method | Best fit | Documented constraints and handling |
|---|---|---|
| CSV | Teams that maintain client URLs in spreadsheets or want dashboard-based batch handling. | ScreenshotAPI requires a url column and says CSV bulk capture is available on a paid tier. The processed CSV can be retrieved through the dashboard or API. Check current plan terms and limits before relying on it. ScreenshotAPI bulk documentation; ScreenshotAPI help. |
| JSON | Scripts, scheduled jobs, and integrated client-reporting workflows. | The documented JSON bulk API accepts up to 50 URLs per request. Split larger lists into batches and verify the applicable plan limit. ScreenshotAPI bulk documentation. |
ScreenshotAPI separately advertises no list-size limit for enterprise plans; that statement should not be assumed to apply to other plans or override the JSON endpoint limit. Ask the vendor to confirm the limit that applies to the agency’s chosen submission route and plan. Its bulk page describes SEO audits, before-and-after comparisons, and client reporting as use cases; those are vendor-described applications, not independently measured results. Prepare a clean client URL list
- Use fully qualified URLs. Start each entry with
https://, as ScreenshotAPI’s CSV instructions require. Include the specific page path when the report concerns a landing page or other page, rather than only the domain root. - For CSV, name the URL field exactly. Use a header named
url. Keep one URL per row and remove blank or malformed entries before upload. - Check scope and permissions. Make sure the batch contains the agreed client pages and that the agency is authorized to capture them. A screenshot can expose information visible on a page, so handle files according to the agency-client arrangement.
- Keep a separate client-to-URL mapping if needed. Label the batch or retain a working sheet that maps each URL to the client and report section; do not rely on a screenshot filename alone to identify ownership.
- Split JSON lists into batches of no more than 50 URLs. This is the JSON bulk request limit documented by ScreenshotAPI. Confirm any separate plan-level restrictions before scheduling larger jobs.
The sample CSV output described by ScreenshotAPI includes URL, status, screenshot, and error-message fields. Those fields give the reviewer a practical reconciliation checklist after processing. ScreenshotAPI bulk documentation.

ScreenshotAPI’s bulk CSV documentation lists output file type, viewport width and height, injected CSS, delay, and custom headers as optional inputs; it also says options available for a single screenshot apply to bulk processing. Its getting-started material describes full-page capture, geolocation, CSS/JavaScript customization, and fresh=true for requesting a current capture where a previous screenshot was returned. Bulk options; Getting started.
#1 Best Overall
- Output format: choose a format suited to the reporting workflow and keep it consistent across the batch.
- Viewport: use the same width and height for pages being compared. A different viewport can change responsive layout and make a visual comparison misleading.
- Full-page behavior: decide whether the report needs the visible viewport or the entire page, and apply that choice consistently.
- Delay: use a consistent delay when pages need time to render. More complex configurations and larger URL lists may take longer to process.
- CSS and headers: inject CSS or send custom headers only when the report requires them, and document intentional deviations from the standard capture setup.
- Freshness: if a cached capture is not appropriate, use the documented freshness control. ScreenshotAPI says to include
fresh=truewhen you want a current screenshot instead of one returned before. This is vendor guidance, not an independent performance finding.
For recurring client reports, save a settings profile or record the parameters beside the batch. If one client page requires different settings, flag the exception rather than silently comparing it with captures made under different conditions.
Submit, monitor, and retrieve the job
- Submit through the chosen route. Upload the CSV through the dashboard or API, or send a JSON batch to the bulk API from the agency’s integration. Follow the vendor’s current request schema rather than assuming single-screenshot parameters are accepted in the same shape.
- Track the job. ScreenshotAPI documents dashboard monitoring or status-API monitoring, including percent complete and counts of successful and failed URLs. Larger batches can take longer depending on URL count and configuration. Bulk job monitoring.
- Retrieve the completed results. Download the processed CSV from the dashboard or API. ScreenshotAPI also documents an email with a direct download link when all screenshots are ready. Bulk results.
- Reconcile before delivery. Match every requested URL to its status, screenshot link, and any error message. Investigate failures and replace missing or unusable captures before putting the batch into a client report.
Review failures before sending a client report
Use the per-URL status and error-message fields to distinguish completed captures from unsuccessful ones. The documentation identifies invalid or incomplete URL entries as a cause of failure, so first verify the exact URL and its https:// prefix. For other failures, inspect the error returned for that URL and the job’s status rather than treating a missing image as a successful capture. The reviewed documentation does not establish a universal retry rule or error-code catalog; consult ScreenshotAPI’s current API documentation or support for the specific failure.

- Intuitive interface of a conventional FTP client
- Easy and Reliable FTP Site Maintenance.
- FTP Automation and Synchronization
- Confirm that each URL in the original list appears in the returned result.
- Check successful and failed counts against the requested batch size.
- Open the screenshot links and verify the intended page, viewport, and client context.
- Keep failed URLs out of deliverables until resolved or explicitly disclosed to the client.
Plan around limits, cost, and Indian procurement questions
The documented figures establish a JSON ceiling of 50 URLs per request and paid-tier access for CSV bulk capture; the reviewed product materials do not establish current plan prices or specific quotas for the agency’s account. Check ScreenshotAPI’s current plan page and confirm route-specific limits before estimating batch capacity or cost. The materials reviewed also do not establish India-specific billing, tax documentation, data residency, or partner-program terms. If those affect procurement, obtain confirmation from ScreenshotAPI directly rather than assuming regional arrangements.
