Epic’s rules, published for Season 5 on December 2, 2020, gave hunters a clue to the target’s last known location and rewarded the hunter’s party with Bars if the target was eliminated or survived until the timer ran out. Whether bounty boards are available in the live season is not confirmed by the official guidance cited here.
How did Fortnite bounties work?
In the historical Battle Royale system, a player or party took a contract to hunt a specific player before time ran out. The contract was resolved if the target was eliminated or escaped capture by outlasting the timer. Epic described these rules in its December 2, 2020 Season 5 announcement; they should not be read as confirmation that the same system is active now.

How did you find a bounty target?
The hunter’s map showed a hint to the target’s last known location, not a guarantee of the target’s exact position. A player who had been marked as the target saw a tracking meter indicating how close the hunter was. The target could try to evade the hunter until the timer expired.
What did you get for completing a bounty?
Epic said the whole party received Bars whether the target was eliminated or escaped capture. Its announcement did not specify an exact bounty payout, so there is no supported amount to give here.

Bars should be understood in the context of the season in which the bounty rules were described. Epic Support says Gold Bars reset each match beginning with Chapter 7 Season 1: Pacific Break. Players can drop Bars for teammates, and an in-game counter shows their balance. See Epic’s current Gold Bars guidance for that change; the older bounty description is not guidance that Bars persist between matches.
Are bounty boards available in Fortnite now?
The official Epic Support pages cited here explain Gold Bars and quests, but do not confirm whether bounty boards—or a successor bounty mechanic—are available in the live season. Check the current in-game map and Fortnite’s live news for season-specific availability. The community-maintained Bounty Boards history is secondary context, not authoritative confirmation of current availability.

Do Fortnite bounties count toward quests?
Epic’s quest instructions direct players to the lobby’s Quests menu to see available quests. Quests can differ by Fortnite experience, and usual rewards include XP, level-ups, or cosmetic items. The official guidance cited here does not establish that bounty activity advances a particular quest or Battle Pass objective.
