These systems are related, but they are not one universal app. Your state agriculture department, local APMC and approved assistance centres may control the final registration or validation step.
What India’s digital agriculture system includes
India’s digital agriculture services are a network of registries, portals, mobile apps, SMS advisories and assisted-access points. AgriStack is the infrastructure layer described by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. Its foundation consists of a Farmer Registry, Geo-Referenced Village Maps and a Crop Sown Registry maintained by states and union territories.

The Farmer Registry is being connected with services such as agricultural credit, crop insurance, weather advisories and minimum-support-price procurement. The Ministry describes Farmer ID as being created by synchronizing a farmer’s details with digitized land records. That makes it a way to identify and connect a farmer with services; it is not, by itself, proof that the farmer qualifies for every scheme.
State ownership matters. In a written Rajya Sabha reply dated 7 August 2026, the Ministry said the State Farmer Registry is built in a federated manner, meaning data ownership remains with the respective states. The national design describes consent-based collection and controlled sharing with authorized entities for specific purposes. Those are system-design statements, not a promise that every state screen, consent notice or service integration looks identical.

How large is the rollout?
The Ministry reported more than 10.31 crore Farmer IDs as of 3 August 2026. Its Rabi 2025–26 Digital Crop Survey had covered more than 31.3 crore plots in 648 districts. An earlier Ministry update counted more than 9.20 crore Farmer IDs on 19 March 2026. These are administrative progress figures; they do not measure a farmer’s income, satisfaction or guaranteed access to a benefit.
Choose the right service for your task

Do not treat these as competing apps. AgriStack is a registry and infrastructure layer, PM-KISAN is a benefit scheme, e-NAM is a market-participation service, and mKisan is an advisory channel.
How to get a Farmer ID through the state system
The exact screens and documents are not standardized nationally. Before starting, identify your state or union territory agriculture department’s current Farmer Registry instructions. The national description covers the purpose of the ID, while the state controls its registry and local workflow.

If you can use an online or camp registration route
- Check the official agriculture department instructions for your state and confirm that Farmer Registry onboarding is open in your area.
- Prepare the identity and land-record details requested by that state system. The Ministry’s stated mechanism synchronizes farmer details with digitized land records, so mismatches in names, ownership or plot information can require correction before completion.
- Read the consent notice shown on the state system. The national design calls for consent when information is collected and authorized sharing for a specific purpose; only agree after checking which service is being enabled.
- Submit the registration through the state portal, a notified registration camp or another officially designated route. Keep the acknowledgement or application number.
- Check the resulting Farmer ID and the services connected to it. An ID does not automatically enroll you in PM-KISAN, insurance, credit or procurement; each service can have separate conditions and verification.
If you need assisted access
Farmers without a smartphone, reliable connectivity or confidence with forms can ask a Common Service Centre (CSC), a Farmer-Producer Organisation (FPO), a KrishiSakhi or a state registration camp for help. Use an authorized centre, review every field before submission and keep the receipt. Do not hand over an original identity document or share a one-time password with an unverified person.

Tenants and sharecroppers
Ministry material says the registry has provision to onboard landholding farmers and cultivators such as tenants and sharecroppers. That provision does not establish that every state has completed onboarding for every category, nor does it guarantee eligibility for a particular scheme. Ask the state agriculture office what evidence of cultivation or tenancy it accepts.
How to register for PM-KISAN and check a payment
PM-KISAN is a Central Sector scheme. The National Informatics Centre describes a benefit of ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments for eligible landholding farmer families. Eligibility is validated through state records and other government and banking checks, so submitting a form does not guarantee approval or a payment date.
New Farmer Registration
- Open the official PM-KISAN portal or its official mobile app and choose the Farmers Corner option for New Farmer Registration.
- Enter the requested identity and location details and complete Aadhaar authentication as prompted. The available route can use an OTP; assisted biometric e-KYC is also described in the official project information.
- Submit the application and save the registration or acknowledgement reference.
- Wait for the state or union-territory validation and record checks. If a name, land detail or bank field differs from government records, the application can remain pending or require correction.
e-KYC and status
The live PM-KISAN portal says e-KYC is mandatory for registered farmers. Use the portal’s Know Your Status function or the app to view registration and beneficiary information, and follow the e-KYC option when the system requests it. The official project description also lists self-registration status, a chatbot, helpline and grievance management.

When a payment is missing
- Check e-KYC completion first.
- Use Know Your Status to see whether the record is pending, rejected or awaiting validation.
- Compare the submitted name, land information and bank details with the records held by the relevant state office.
- Use the portal’s grievance route or helpline and retain the ticket number.
- Ask the state agriculture department or an authorized CSC for help if an online correction is not available.
Do not infer that a Farmer ID, a submitted PM-KISAN form or a previous instalment guarantees future instalments. Eligibility and verification can be reviewed under the scheme’s rules.

How to sell crops through e-NAM
e-NAM links participating agricultural markets, but registration is tied to the APMC you select. Confirm that your mandi participates and ask its office about local documents, produce requirements, weighing and payment procedures.
Register as a farmer
- Open the e-NAM farmer registration page or the farmer module in the official app.
- Select Farmer as the registration type.
- Choose the APMC where you intend to sell.
- Enter a correct email address and the other requested details.
- Complete KYC and submit the application for APMC approval.
- After approval, use the permanent credentials issued by the system to sign in.
The registration guidance’s historical mandi totals should not be treated as current market counts. The practical question is whether your chosen APMC is participating now and what its local process requires.
Track and decide on an auction
The e-NAM farmer module lets you see active lots in My Lots, review the previous seven days in My Lots History and follow a lot from gate entry through gate exit. After the auction, the farmer-facing workflow allows acceptance or rejection of the winning auction price. An online auction therefore does not mean that the farmer is forced to accept the winning bid automatically.
What to check at the mandi
- Confirm your lot number and gate-entry status before leaving the market.
- Check that the displayed commodity, quantity and quality information match the lot submitted.
- Review the winning price and use the accept or reject control within the time allowed by the APMC workflow.
- Keep the electronic or printed transaction record and ask the APMC about settlement timing and payment method.
How to receive agricultural advice by phone
The Government Services Portal describes mKisan as an SMS service that sends personalized agricultural advisories according to language, location and preferred practices. Messages can cover weather, crop operations, pest control and government schemes. AgriStack is also being integrated with weather-advisory services.

Make SMS advice useful
- Use an official agriculture or extension channel to register the mobile number and location requested by the service.
- Select the language and crop or practice preferences offered in your area.
- Read the locality and date in each message before acting; an advisory for another district or crop may not apply to your field.
- For pesticide, disease or urgent weather decisions, confirm the recommendation with the state agriculture department or local extension worker.
Service availability and language choices vary by state. Treat an SMS as targeted guidance, not as a guarantee that conditions on your farm are identical to those used to generate the message.

What to do when a digital process fails
Land or identity details do not match
Stop repeated submissions. Take the acknowledgement and the land-record or identity correction evidence to the state agriculture office, registration camp or authorized CSC. A registry can only synchronize accurately when the underlying records are consistent.

Use a CSC, FPO, KrishiSakhi or state camp. Ask the operator to show the completed form before submission and provide a receipt or reference number.
Your mandi is not listed
Ask the APMC whether it is enrolled in e-NAM or whether a different participating APMC serves your produce. Do not assume that every mandi has the same online auction workflow.
An advisory does not match field conditions
Verify the crop, location and date, then contact a local extension channel. Weather and pest conditions can differ within a district, and an SMS cannot replace an on-site diagnosis.
A practical order for using the services
- Identify the immediate task: identity and records, scheme payment, market sale or advice.
- Start with the responsible official channel rather than searching for one all-purpose app.
- Complete the state, APMC or e-KYC validation that applies to that task.
- Save every reference number, lot number, grievance ticket and consent confirmation.
- Use assisted access promptly when a record mismatch or connectivity problem prevents completion.
- Check the service’s own status page; a Farmer ID or registration in one system does not prove approval in another.
