How EVO Fighting Game Prize Pools and Payouts Work

Evo’s 2026 USA featured games receive different pools based on registration rank, then pay the top eight using fixed percentage shares. Here’s how the formula works and how it differs from the 2025 arrangement.

Evo does not give every featured game the same prize pool. In the published Evo 2026 USA schedule, the twelve featured games receive pools from $20,000 to $100,000 according to each game’s registration rank. Each game’s pool is then divided among its top eight finishers using the same percentage schedule. That means a player’s placement determines a share, while the game’s registration rank determines the dollar value of that share.

How the Evo 2026 USA prize pool is allocated

Evo’s published 2026 USA schedule lists a total of $500,000 for its twelve featured games. The allocation is not one shared pool across all twelve tournaments: each game receives its own amount, and the amount depends on its total registration count relative to the other featured games. The highest-registered game receives $100,000; the lowest-ranked games on the schedule receive $20,000 each.

The published schedule assigns the pool by registration rank, from most registered to least registered. It gives the following amounts:

Featured-game registration rank Pool for that game
1st $100,000
2nd $70,000
3rd $60,000
4th–6th $40,000 each
7th–8th $30,000 each
9th–10th $25,000 each
11th–12th $20,000 each

The listed amounts total $500,000: $100,000 + $70,000 + $60,000, plus the pools for the remaining nine games. In other words, registration rank changes the size of an individual game’s pool, not the percentage split among the players who place in it. A game does not receive the $100,000 pool merely because it is part of Evo; that amount belongs to the game ranked first by registration in this schedule.

  • [Deep Bass with Clear Vocals] High-performance drivers produce punchy bass while keeping vocals clean and detailed for everyday listening.

The tier arithmetic makes the total easy to check: $100,000 + $70,000 + $60,000 + (3 × $40,000) + (2 × $30,000) + (2 × $25,000) + (2 × $20,000) = $500,000. The schedule therefore assigns all twelve game pools, rather than setting aside one large pot and dividing it among all competitors across the event.

How much does Evo pay for first place?

There is no single first-place dollar prize that applies to every featured game. Under the Evo 2026 USA payout schedule, first place receives 40% of that game’s pool. A player’s first-place prize therefore depends on which pool their game receives. For example, first place in the $100,000 pool is worth $40,000, while first place in a $20,000 pool is worth $8,000. These are calculations from the published percentages and pool amounts, not separate reports of tournament results.

The schedule also provides a quick way to calculate any placement: multiply the game’s pool by the percentage listed for that finish. The percentages are fixed across the schedule; the resulting dollars vary because the pools differ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For another illustration, a game assigned a $40,000 pool pays $16,000 for first place, $8,000 for second, $6,000 for third, and $4,000 for fourth. Each fifth-place finisher receives $2,400, and each seventh-place finisher receives $600. These figures are arithmetic examples using the published split; they should not be mistaken for results from a particular game tournament.

How the top-eight payouts are split

Evo’s 2026 schedule divides each featured game’s pool among eight competitors. Fifth place is shared by two players, as is seventh place, so the eight paid positions are first, second, third, fourth, two fifth-place finishes, and two seventh-place finishes.

Placement Share of that game’s pool Example from a $100,000 pool Example from a $20,000 pool
1st 40% $40,000 $8,000
2nd 20% $20,000 $4,000
3rd 15% $15,000 $3,000
4th 10% $10,000 $2,000
5th (each of two players) 6% $6,000 each $1,200 each
7th (each of two players) 1.5% $1,500 each $300 each

The percentages add to 100% when both fifth-place shares and both seventh-place shares are counted: 40 + 20 + 15 + 10 + 6 + 6 + 1.5 + 1.5. The schedule thus accounts for the entire pool across the top eight; it does not award each of those players the stated percentage of the total $500,000 event pool.

The distinction between a placement share and the event-wide total matters when reading a headline number. The $500,000 is the combined pool for twelve featured game tournaments, not the amount available to a champion in one bracket. A particular competitor’s scheduled award is calculated from that competitor’s game pool alone. Likewise, the two players sharing fifth each receive 6%—not 6% split between them—and each seventh-place finisher receives 1.5%.

Why featured and extended tournaments can pay differently

“Evo prize pool” can refer to different arrangements depending on the year and tournament category. The Evo 2025 USA event page described a $30,000 minimum guaranteed pool for featured tournaments and separately said that finalists in selected extended tournaments shared the total entry amount for that game’s bracket. It also said prize money was split among the top eight finalists. Those 2025 terms are not the same formula as the registration-ranked game pools published for the 2026 USA featured lineup.

When comparing a payout claim, first establish the event year and whether the bracket was featured or extended. A headline amount without that context can confuse a guaranteed minimum with a game-specific pool, or a featured tournament with an extended tournament whose pool was tied to bracket entries. The 2026 schedule described here establishes the featured-game allocation; it does not establish the payout method for every side event or every Evo-branded event around the world. USA figures should not be applied to Evo Japan, Evo France, Evo Singapore, or another year without checking that event’s own terms.

The comparison should include more than the top-line total. Check the event and year, whether the tournament is featured or extended, how its game pool is determined, the size of that pool, and the placement percentages. A minimum guarantee, a registration-rank allocation, and a pool based on bracket-entry totals are different ways of describing a prize arrangement. Similar labels such as “Evo prize pool” do not make the underlying terms interchangeable.

How registration rank fits into the payout calculation

The calculation has two stages. First, the event’s registration counts determine which game receives which pool tier. Second, each player’s final placement determines their percentage of that game’s tier. In compact form:

  1. Find the game’s registration rank. The 2026 USA schedule orders featured games from most registered to least registered and assigns a dollar pool to each rank.
  2. Find the player’s placement. The published split covers first through eighth, with two players tied at fifth and two at seventh.
  3. Multiply the pool by the placement share. For instance, second place in a $40,000 pool is 20% × $40,000, or $8,000.

This method is why it is misleading to say simply that “Evo pays $40,000 for first.” That figure is the 40% share of the highest-ranked game’s $100,000 pool in the published 2026 USA schedule. A game assigned a smaller pool produces a smaller first-place award at the same 40% rate.

Registration rank is a comparison among the featured games in the relevant event, not a player’s tournament seed or final placement. It answers which pool tier a game receives; it does not change what percentage a second-place or fifth-place finisher earns. The schedule states that registration count determines the descending order, but the published payout information does not describe additional tie-breaking rules or provide a separate alternative formula.

How players reach the paid placements

The prize split is separate from the match format, but Evo’s rules provide context for how competitors reach the finish positions. Most tournament sets are best two out of three games. Sets that determine the top three placements—Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals—are best three out of five. The rules describe progression through pools and then a double-elimination semifinal bracket. Finalists receive medals and tournament prizes according to their ultimate placement.

These match rules explain the route through the bracket; they do not alter the payout percentages. A longer final set does not create a different prize formula, and the rules’ description of double elimination is not itself a promise that every participant receives prize money. The published 2026 split identifies the paid top-eight finishes.

What past Evo figures do—and do not—tell you

Evo’s historical figures help explain why registration and bracket size matter to the event, but they are not alternate ways to calculate the 2026 payouts. Evo’s history page says Street Fighter IV reached more than 1,800 competitors in 2010 and that the game’s success helped secure a guaranteed $20,000 pool. That is a historical account of a 2010 game pool, not a standing minimum or the 2026 allocation rule.

For 2023, Evo reports 7,083 Street Fighter 6 competitors and 9,182 unique entrants. For 2024, it reports 16,252 bracket entries across 10,240 individual players, including more than 5,000 Street Fighter 6 competitors. Entries and people are different measures: one person may enter more than one game, so total bracket entries can exceed the number of unique players. The event’s stated 2026 rule specifically uses each game’s total registration count to rank its pool; past total entrant statistics should not be substituted for a current game’s rank.

Those figures also use different scopes. The 2023 history entry distinguishes Street Fighter 6 competitors from unique entrants across the event, while the 2024 figures distinguish bracket entries from individual players and separately report Street Fighter 6 competitors. They help describe participation, but none by itself tells a reader the registration rank assigned to a 2026 featured game. To interpret a number, identify whether it counts people across the event, entrants in one game, or entries across multiple brackets.

What the published payout schedule does not specify

The pool schedule gives placement shares and dollar allocations, but it does not state when prize payments arrive, how taxes are handled, whether transaction fees apply, or what paperwork a player must complete to receive payment. Those questions require the relevant event-specific official terms or direct guidance from the organizer; the percentages alone do not answer them.

For a reliable comparison, keep five details together: event and year, featured or extended status, how the game pool is set, the total pool, and the placement percentages. If entrant figures are included, label whether they count game entries, unique players, or competitors in one specific bracket. That makes clear whether two published prize claims describe the same kind of tournament and the same measurement.

Frequently asked questions

How do EVO prize pools work?

For the Evo 2026 USA featured lineup, Evo first assigns each game a pool according to its registration rank among the featured games. It then divides that game’s pool among the top eight finishers using the published percentages. A player’s payout therefore depends on both the game’s pool tier and the player’s placement.

Does every game at EVO have the same prize pool?

No. In the published 2026 USA schedule, the twelve featured games have different pools, ranging from $20,000 to $100,000. The game’s registration rank determines the amount; the placement percentages are the same across those pools.

How are EVO payouts split?

The 2026 USA featured-game pool is split 40% for first, 20% for second, 15% for third, 10% for fourth, 6% for each of two fifth-place finishers, and 1.5% for each of two seventh-place finishers. Together those eight shares equal 100% of that game’s pool.

How much does EVO pay for first place?

There is no one amount for every featured game in the 2026 USA schedule. First place receives 40% of the game’s pool, which equals $40,000 in a $100,000 pool and $8,000 in a $20,000 pool. Other pool tiers produce other first-place amounts at the same percentage.

Are Evo 2025 and Evo 2026 payouts calculated the same way?

The official USA event pages describe different arrangements. The 2025 page stated a $30,000 minimum guaranteed pool for featured tournaments and tied selected extended-tournament prize pools to the game’s bracket-entry total. The 2026 page publishes registration-ranked pools for its featured games. Check the relevant year and tournament category rather than assuming one year’s terms carry over.

When are Evo payouts sent, and how are taxes handled?

The published pool and percentage schedules do not establish payment dates, tax treatment, fees, or the paperwork a player must submit. Those details need to be checked in the applicable event terms or with the organizer.

The Bottom Line

For Evo 2026 USA, registration rank sets each featured game’s pool, and placement determines a fixed percentage of that pool. First place is 40%, but the dollar amount varies from $8,000 to $40,000 across the published pool tiers. Always check the event year and whether a tournament is featured or extended before comparing prize claims.
