If your model has a remote with the same control, you can use that instead. Button placement and special behavior vary by model, so check the manual for your exact receiver if the control is missing or the unit does not respond.
Turn off the receiver during normal use
- Using the front panel: Find the receiver’s STANDBY/ON control and press it once.
- Using the remote: If your remote has a STANDBY/ON button, press it once. Pioneer’s VSX-1130 operating instructions describe this remote command as switching the receiver to standby. A VSX-935 remote guide also identifies a STANDBY/ON control.
Standby is the normal power-off command described in the Pioneer VSX materials cited here. Those manuals cover named models, not every Pioneer receiver, so use your model’s manual if the button or response differs.

Standby is not the same as disconnecting power
Pressing STANDBY/ON puts the receiver into standby; it does not mean the power cord has been disconnected. Pioneer’s VSX-01TXH instructions discuss switching off and disconnecting the power cord as separate actions. If you need to fully disconnect mains power, follow the instructions for your model and unplug it safely rather than treating standby as a substitute.
Check your model before using a special shutdown sequence
VSX-1130: turn off all zones
If you specifically want to turn off every zone on a VSX-1130, Pioneer’s operating instructions give a model-specific sequence: press ALL ZONE STBY, then press STANDBY/ON. The manual says the receiver enters standby and all zones turn off. Do not assume this sequence applies to other models.

VSX-60: only use the long press as troubleshooting
If a VSX-60 will not turn off normally, Pioneer’s operating instructions say to press and hold the front-panel STANDBY/ON control for more than 10 seconds. Pioneer warns that this may clear the receiver’s settings. This is a model-specific recovery step, not a routine way to turn off a receiver; do not try it on another model unless its manual says to.

Read the complete model number from the receiver’s label, then look up that exact model in Pioneer’s parts catalog for its manual listing. Match the model before using unusual button combinations or seeking a replacement control, because button layout and compatibility vary.
