How to add a Safari link to your iPhone Home Screen

Open the website in Safari on the iPhone where you want the icon.

Open the Share menu. Depending on your Safari tab layout, you may need to open the Page Menu or More button first.

Scroll through the available actions and tap Add to Home Screen.

Choose whether to enable Open as Web App, then tap Add.
The website icon appears on the Home Screen of the device where you added it.

Should you turn on Open as Web App?
This optional setting changes how the Home Screen icon opens the site. Turn it on if you want a web-app-like experience; Apple says web apps can also receive notifications. Leave it off if you only want a shortcut to the website.
What to do if Add to Home Screen is missing
In the Share menu, scroll to the bottom of the options and tap Edit Actions. Add Add to Home Screen to the available actions, then return to the menu and select it. Apple’s instructions are in its iPhone guide to adding a website icon.

Home Screen icon or Safari bookmark?
A Home Screen icon gives you a launch point outside Safari. A bookmark is a separate saved item in Safari, added through Add Bookmark to and managed there. The Home Screen icon is device-specific: Apple states, “The icon appears only on the device where you add it.” See Apple’s instructions for bookmarking a website.

If you enable Open as Web App, the site opens in a web-app experience from its Home Screen icon. Apple notes that web apps can receive notifications; this option is not required to add an icon. Details are in Apple’s guide to turning a website into an app in Safari.
