For the Kwikset Halo Touchscreen Wi-Fi Enabled Smart Lock, press the Lock symbol at the bottom right of the touchscreen. You do not need to enter an access code to lock it; Kwikset says the code is used to unlock. This action is specific to the Halo Touchscreen, so check your model before using it.
Lock a Kwikset Halo Touchscreen manually
- On the exterior touchscreen, find the Lock symbol at the bottom right.
- Press the symbol to lock the deadbolt.
- Do not enter an access code just to lock the door. Kwikset’s support answer says the code is for unlocking, not required for this locking action.
Kwikset’s Halo Touchscreen support page addresses a common point of confusion: expecting to enter a code to lock from the keypad. The Lock-symbol instruction applies to the Halo Touchscreen model, not automatically to every Kwikset smart lock.

Check your lock model before trying another method
Kwikset’s app supports Halo Touch, Halo Touchscreen, Halo Keypad, and Aura locks, but that does not establish that they all use the same manual locking action. If your lock is a different model—or the Halo Touchscreen instruction does not fit its controls—identify the model on the lock or in its manual and follow that model’s instructions. Kwikset provides model information through its product support pages.

If the lock does not respond
- Confirm the model name before trying another keypad gesture or touchscreen control.
- For a Halo Touchscreen, make sure you are pressing the Lock symbol at the bottom right of the screen.
- If the controls or behavior differ, use the instructions for your exact model rather than assuming the Halo Touchscreen procedure applies.
