Yonko is a position in the world of One Piece, not an official power score. Haki helps explain how elite fighters perceive, defend against, and damage one another, but neither a Yonko title nor a particular Haki type settles every matchup. The story’s evidence is its characters’ demonstrated abilities and the circumstances of their fights—not a published strongest-to-weakest chart.
What does Yonko status tell you about strength?
“Yonko” refers to an Emperor-level status in the story. It signals a major figure in the world, but it does not assign that character a measurable combat rating. The official sources cited here describe specific abilities and clashes; they do not provide a comprehensive ranking of current and former Emperors.

That distinction matters: a title tells you about standing in the story, while a strength comparison has to be argued from what characters actually do. Even a direct fight is not a controlled test. Injuries, allies, goals, abilities and the course of the encounter can all affect its outcome.
What are the three types of Haki?
Haki is commonly described through three types: Observation, Armament and Conqueror’s. Their functions differ, so the fact that two characters use Haki does not mean they use it in the same way. An official profile, for example, identifies Boa Hancock as able to use all three.

Observation Haki: sensing and anticipating
Observation Haki heightens awareness. In the official synopsis for Episode 857, the Luffy–Katakuri fight illustrates how developed Observation can help locate unseen opponents, sense how many enemies are present and anticipate their next movements. Katakuri’s ability to read Luffy and evade attacks is part of the combat example.
It is better understood as an advantage in perception and anticipation than as an infallible guarantee of knowing the future. What a fighter can do with that awareness still depends on the situation and the opponent.
Armament Haki: making contact and strengthening attacks
Armament Haki has a practical role against Logia users: it can let a fighter strike or seize an opponent whose body would otherwise evade ordinary physical attacks. Particular weaknesses can also provide ways to counter a Logia user.
That ability to make contact does not mean Armament makes its user invulnerable or automatically stronger than every opponent. It is one tool within a fight, not a verdict about its outcome.

Conqueror’s Haki: rare power and high-level combat use
Conqueror’s Haki is restricted to selected people, according to Luffy’s official character profile. That profile also says it can defeat ordinary opponents without physical contact. Rarity and combat application are related, but they are not the same claim: possessing it alone does not prove that someone wins every matchup.
The official synopsis for Episode 1028 gives a concrete example of its role in a top-level clash: Kaido attacks with Conqueror’s Haki, and Luffy responds with his own. This shows the ability being used in combat between major fighters; it does not establish that every Yonko uses it identically or that Haki alone decides every battle.
How should you compare Yonko and other top fighters?
Instead of treating a title or one ability as a universal ranking, compare fighters across several story-based dimensions. These are useful criteria for analysis, not an official ranking system.

A single scene can be strong evidence for a particular ability without being a complete measure of a character’s overall strength. The Kaido–Luffy exchange, for instance, supports the point that Conqueror’s Haki matters in a major clash; it is not a universal formula for ranking all Emperors.

Where can you read the Wano clash in context?
The official ONE PIECE.com listing for Volume 100, published on 2021-09-03 and subtitled “覇王色,” places its synopsis in the Wano conflict involving Kaido. It is a relevant manga volume for following that story context, not a standalone Haki encyclopedia. VIZ offers a licensed chapter catalog and volume purchase links; chapter access and purchasing availability vary by location.

What the official examples establish
The official profiles and episode summaries establish distinct Haki functions and show how those abilities appear in particular scenes. They do not establish a complete, definitive strongest-to-weakest list of Yonko. Because the manga is ongoing, new story developments can also change claims about present membership or the latest demonstrations of Haki.
