If Amazon bills you directly for Amazon Music Unlimited, you manage payment in Amazon Music Settings. Amazon’s U.S. help lists three payment methods for subscriptions: credit cards, debit cards and the Amazon Store Card. Amazon.com Gift Cards can’t be used to buy a subscription. If you signed up through Apple or another third party, that provider handles billing instead. You may also not need to pay at all, because Amazon has free and Prime-included tiers.
Do you need to pay for Amazon Music?
Not necessarily. Amazon offers several ways in, and only one of them is a separately purchased subscription.

Amazon’s plan comparison page is the place to check what each includes. Prices and eligibility vary by location and change over time, so use the live offer page rather than an old price quote.
Which payment methods does Amazon accept for Unlimited?

Amazon’s U.S. help says subscriptions can’t currently be bought with an Amazon.com Gift Card or purchased as a gift. Other countries may differ, because this information comes from Amazon’s U.S. pages.

How to add or change your payment method
- Open Your Amazon Music Settings, in the app or on the web.
- Find the Payment Method section.
- Select Change.
- Follow the prompts to pick or enter a credit card, debit card or Amazon Store Card.
The same Settings page shows your current fee and your next due date. Check it there, since the amount depends on your plan, location and any offer you signed up under.
What if the subscription doesn’t appear in Amazon’s settings?
First work out where you signed up. Billing follows the signup route.

- Apple iTunes or the Apple App Store: Amazon directs you to Apple to manage the subscription.
- Google Play or a mobile service provider: Amazon’s plan-switching help says you may need to contact that provider directly.
In these cases the third party’s billing terms apply, and changing a card inside Amazon Music won’t fix anything.

Does Amazon Music renew automatically?
For direct billing, yes. Amazon’s Music Terms of Use (section 2.2(b), last updated September 30, 2026) say:

“UNLESS YOU NOTIFY US BEFORE A CHARGE THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO AUTO RENEW, YOU UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR UNLIMITED PLAN WILL AUTOMATICALLY CONTINUE AND YOU AUTHORIZE US TO COLLECT THE THEN-APPLICABLE FEE AND APPLICABLE TAXES FOR THE UNLIMITED PLAN, USING ANY PAYMENT METHOD WE HAVE ON RECORD FOR YOU.”
That last phrase matters. Amazon may use any payment method on record, not only the one you most recently chose. If you want to stop renewal, turn off auto-renewal in Amazon Music Settings before the next due date. For a third-party subscription, cancel with that provider.

Amazon says fees may change and that it will communicate changes in advance. Payments are generally non-refundable, with stated exceptions and location-specific rights, so don’t count on a refund after a charge.
What happens if a payment fails?
According to Amazon’s terms, if every payment method on file is declined, you must provide a new one promptly. Otherwise the Unlimited subscription may be canceled. Amazon doesn’t set a single recovery timeline in the terms, so act on the payment notice you receive and update your method in Settings as soon as you see it.

Common questions about the charge
Can I pay with an Amazon gift card balance?
No. Amazon states that Amazon.com Gift Cards can’t be used for Music subscriptions.
Do I need an Echo or Fire TV device to pay?
No. Those devices are only places to listen, and payment is handled through your account. Some plans, such as Single Device, are tied to a particular device type.
I see an unexpected Amazon Music charge. Where do I look?
Open Amazon Music Settings to see whether an Unlimited plan is active and what its next due date is. If nothing appears, check Apple, Google Play or your mobile provider for a subscription started through them.
