You can add Google Calendar to your Mac in two different ways: connect your Google account to Apple Calendar to see and manage events there, or open Google Calendar in a browser and add a bookmark or desktop shortcut. The first integrates calendars; the second opens Google’s own interface.
Option 1: Add your Google account to Apple Calendar
Choose this option if you want Google events to appear alongside your other calendars in Apple’s Calendar app. Google’s instructions are for Mac and recommend using the latest Apple Calendar and macOS; they do not specify a minimum version. Google’s Mac setup guide and Apple’s account guide describe the account-based setup.

- Open Calendar on your Mac.
- Choose Calendar > Add Account. Depending on your macOS version, you may instead see Calendar > Settings (or Preferences) > Accounts, then an option to add an account.
- Select Google and follow the onscreen prompts to sign in and authorize the connection.
- When setup is complete, find the Google account and its calendars in the Calendar sidebar. Google events can then be viewed and managed in Apple Calendar, within the integration’s feature limits.
Choose which Google calendars appear
Google says calendars under My calendars and Birthdays sync automatically. To include or exclude other calendars, open Google’s Calendar sync selection page, choose the calendars you want, save the selection, and refresh Calendar.

Adjust sync and check Delegation
In Calendar’s account settings, use Refresh Calendars to choose how often Apple Calendar checks Google Calendar for updates. If expected calendars are still missing and you previously used Google’s older Delegation feature, Google advises turning it off by unchecking all calendars under Calendar Preferences > Accounts > Delegation.

Option 2: Open Google Calendar from the Mac desktop
If you want Google’s own interface, open calendar.google.com in a supported browser and sign in. Google says Calendar cannot be downloaded and installed on a computer. You can bookmark the page or create a desktop shortcut that opens it; either is a convenient link to the browser version, not a native Mac app. See Google’s instructions for accessing Calendar on a computer.

Google also documents account-based sign-in for compatible third-party calendar apps, which may allow viewing and editing events. The secret iCal address is a separate read-only option.
