How Citation Click-Through Works in Chaos Cypher

Chaos Cypher says Chat citation markers show the source and page behind answer sentences and open the cited text chunk or image for inspection.

Chaos Cypher describes citation click-through as a way to inspect the source behind individual sentences in a Chat answer: hover over a citation marker to see source details and a validation status, then click it to open the cited text chunk or image. The feature is described in the company’s September 18, 2026 article; its claims have not been independently verified.

What appears beside a Chaos Cypher answer

According to Chaos Cypher, when you ask a question in Chat, inline citation markers appear as the answer streams beside sentences drawn from your sources. The visual marker differs by source type: a document icon denotes a text citation, while a thumbnail denotes a citation to an image chunk.

The markers are attached to individual sentences, rather than presented only as a source list for the answer as a whole. That lets you inspect the cited basis of a particular claim without assuming every sentence in a generated response has the same source.

How to inspect a citation

  1. Ask a question in Chaos Cypher Chat about a document you have already imported.
  2. Look for citation markers beside sentences as the response appears.
  3. Hover over a marker. Chaos Cypher says the popover identifies the source and page number and displays a validation badge.
  4. Click the marker to open the source context: a text citation opens a source detail page with the exact chunk highlighted, while an image citation opens the full image.

What the validation badge means

Chaos Cypher defines “Verified” as meaning the cited sentence was found in the cited chunk. “Invalid” means it was not found there. This is the product’s stated definition of the badge; it should not be read as independent proof that the answer is accurate, that the cited source is authoritative, or that the claim is fully supported in broader context.

What click-through can—and cannot—establish

Opening the cited chunk or image gives you a way to compare a generated sentence with the material Chaos Cypher says it came from. You can inspect the surrounding source context and judge whether it supports the answer. The company presents this as a way to check grounded claims one at a time, rather than treating the entire answer as a single unit.

The feature article does not report independent test results, citation-accuracy rates, user-trust outcomes, or measured reductions in hallucinations. It also does not establish that the described behavior works across every file type or release. Those points should not be inferred from the interface description.

How to try the feature

Start with a question about a document already imported into Chaos Cypher, then check whether the response displays citation markers. If you do not yet have imported material, Chaos Cypher points readers to its “GraphRAG with Ollama in 10 minutes” quickstart. The time phrase is part of the quickstart’s title, not a verified estimate for every user or device.
