Chico’s generally accepts eligible returns and exchanges within 60 days of purchase. U.S. customers can usually return online and phone orders at a Chico’s boutique or by mail, but outlet purchases follow separate rules. Refunds normally go to the original payment method; merchandise credit applies only in certain situations, such as some gift-receipt or no-receipt returns.
Before returning anything, check the item’s condition, purchase channel, and payment method. Chico’s can change its policy, so confirm the current terms on its Returns page.
What Chico’s accepts—and what it excludes
Chico’s states that eligible merchandise may be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase date. Keep the receipt, gift receipt, order confirmation, or invoice so the store can identify the transaction.
Items generally must be unworn, unwashed, and in original condition unless defective. Chico’s says merchandise marked final sale is sold “as is” and may not be returned or exchanged. Gift boxes and gift cards are also excluded, except where required by law.

Swimwear, watches, intimates, and hosiery have additional packaging, ticket, or sanitary-shield requirements. Soiled or washed items are not accepted. Check the current policy for the requirements that apply to the specific item.
Where to return an item
The return location depends on where the item was bought. Boutique purchases cannot be returned at outlets, and outlet or Off The Rack purchases cannot be returned at boutiques. Returns must be made in the country of purchase; airport and cruise purchases must go back to the original location.

PayPal purchases may be returned in stores or by mail using the provided label. For an international order, obtain instructions before shipping: Chico’s requires a Return Authorization Number, and international return fees and eligible destinations can change. Its FAQ has the current country-specific details. For returns processed through ESW, Chico’s says the original merchandise price and duties or taxes paid on those items are refunded in the original currency and exchange rate. The FAQ also says gift cards and merchandise credit are not accepted as payment on international orders.
How to return a U.S. online order
- Check eligibility. Confirm the purchase date, whether the item was marked final sale, and whether it meets the condition and packaging requirements.
- Gather proof of purchase. Bring or include the receipt, gift receipt, order confirmation, or invoice.
- Choose a return route. For an in-person return, take the item and order details to a U.S. Chico’s boutique. For mail, start the return through the Returns Portal.
- Account for the mailing deduction. If you use Chico’s prepaid U.S. return label, $7 is deducted from the refund. If you use your own carrier label, Chico’s recommends traceable, insured delivery.
- Check the refund method. It normally follows the original payment method, subject to the exceptions below.
Store returns avoid the prepaid-label deduction and mailing transit, but only work at the correct location for the purchase channel. Mail returns provide a route when a suitable store is inconvenient, with the fee and processing time to consider.

When Chico’s issues merchandise credit instead of a refund
A refund and merchandise credit are not interchangeable choices that every customer can select. The outcome depends on how the item was bought and what proof is available.

For split-tender transactions, Chico’s lists merchandise or gift cards first, then credit cards, checks, and cash, as applicable. A check purchase may be refunded by merchandise card or by a check mailed within 30 days. Chico’s reserves the right to refuse or limit returns.

Merchandise credit is credit issued by Chico’s for an eligible return; it is not cash. Chico’s does not state a universal date when every store-issued merchandise return card becomes usable, so ask the store or customer service about a particular card. Gift cards themselves are final sale except where law requires otherwise, as described in Chico’s Gift Card Terms.

For a size or color replacement, Chico’s describes a Quick Exchange Service at 1-888-855-4986. The service can arrange the replacement order, waive standard ground shipping, and coordinate the original return. Call before sending the item so the replacement can be arranged.

How long mail returns and refunds take
Chico’s FAQ advises allowing up to two weeks for mail-return processing. After the processing email, the credit may take another five to seven business days to appear. These are retailer estimates, not a guarantee of when a bank or card issuer will post the funds. See the Chico’s FAQ for its current timing guidance.
Price adjustments and rewards after a return
Price adjustments
Chico’s states that a one-time price adjustment may be available if the price falls within 14 days, subject to channel and other exceptions. In-store purchases require the original receipt presented in a store. Online and catalog purchases are not eligible for price adjustments in stores; the FAQ says an online order placed no more than 14 days before a price change may qualify through customer service. Contact customer service with the invoice number rather than assuming the adjustment applies. Final-sale merchandise is excluded.
Rewards points and certificates
Under Chico’s Rewards+ terms, points tied to returned or exchanged qualifying merchandise are deducted and forfeited. Reward Certificates used on returned items are also forfeited; their value is not refunded.
