In ARC Raiders’ Frozen Trail 2.0 update, quests and objectives award XP, traders provide different goods and quest interactions, and Outpost projects, research, the skill tree, and Reward Passes add longer-term goals. Expeditions are a separate, voluntary departure and reset system—but the fifth departure window has closed, and Embark says Expeditions are paused until early 2027.
The details below reflect Embark’s October 8, 2026 update and its latest Expedition announcement. Trader stock and other mechanics can change, so use the current in-game menus for live details.

How the progression systems fit together
Think of progression as several connected tracks rather than one ladder. Quest completion and objectives now award XP; traders offer goods and, in some cases, quest-related interactions; skill-tree choices shape your Raider; Outpost projects and research provide longer-term goals; and Reward Points advance the currently selected Reward Pass. An Expedition is different: it is a voluntary departure system with a reset element, not a regular quest or trader activity.

The 22 is the number added in that update, not the game’s total quest count. Embark’s Frozen Trail 2.0 update notes are the reference for those current changes.

How quests and XP work
Completing quests and quest objectives now grants XP in addition to the rewards listed for the quest. The update also revised quest-list sorting and updated older photo-taking objectives to use the new camera. If an objective appears stuck, check its current status in the client rather than assuming every objective is working as intended; Embark listed quest behavior among the update’s known issues.
What each trader offers
Trader roles differ, and an offer’s presence in the update notes does not establish that it is permanent or always available. Check the trader menu in your current game for exact stock, prices, and rotation timing.

How the revamped skill tree works
The Frozen Trail 2.0 skill-tree revamp makes some branch choices explicit. At the middle of each branch, choose one of two skills. At the end of a branch, after investing the required points, you can choose up to two of three skills. Embark says it may tune the tree further as it sees how players use it, so treat the current layout as version-specific rather than fixed.

How to unlock and use the Outpost
Complete a project to unlock the Outpost. That gives you access to a research station, and you can expand the Outpost with modules. Furniture Designs work like learned recipes: once learned, they unlock furniture you can craft.
The first photo objective
The first listed Outpost step asks you to photograph a farmland house. The update says the camera can be purchased from Shani, crafted at the Workbench, or found topside. Because this step appeared in the update’s known-issues section, check the live objective if taking the photo does not register.

How Reward Passes work
Frozen Trail 2.0 replaced Cred with Reward Points, which are automatically applied to the currently selected Reward Pass. Only one pass can be active at a time, so check your selection before earning progress you want credited to a particular pass.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe Frozen Trail Pass has 60 levels across Free and Premium tracks. Existing Raider Decks moved into a Legacy Pass, and rewards you had already unlocked were retained. The update describes Reward Passes as the evolution of Raider Decks; it does not make the two labels interchangeable for current progression.
Expeditions: what is available now
The fifth Expedition departure window ran from September 8 through September 29, 2026, and is closed. Embark says Expeditions are paused until early 2027, when they are expected to return with major improvements. You cannot depart during the closed window; do not rely on older schedules as a current opportunity.
For the fifth Expedition, players could opt out of resetting quest progress. Completing a Caravan by itself did not sign a player up: players had to sign up during the window, and there was no Last Call feature. These details describe that specific, now-ended window, not a confirmed rule set for the next Expedition. Embark’s fifth Expedition announcement gives the window and pause details.
Why Expeditions are separate from ordinary progression
An Expedition is an optional departure with a reset dimension, whereas quests, trader interactions, skill choices, Outpost projects, and Reward Pass selection are the game’s other progression systems. Embark’s original rationale was to avoid making a wipe mandatory: ARC Raiders design director Virgil wrote on October 9, 2025, “However, one thing a mandatory wipe does not do is respect the investment of those players who do not have as much time to play overall.” That explains the original design intent; it does not establish the next Expedition’s reset rules or schedule.

What to prioritize
For immediate progression, work through quests and objectives for their XP and listed rewards. Use traders for the specific materials, equipment, or interactions you need, while checking limits and rotations in the live menus. Treat the Outpost and its research as longer-term projects, make skill choices according to the branch options available in your version, and verify the selected Reward Pass before earning pass progress. Keep Expedition planning separate: the fifth window is over, and Embark has not yet announced the detailed rules for the expected early-2027 return.
