Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Use the mailbox provider’s authorized API to find and retrieve the likely verification email, then pass its message text to a structured extraction step. The API gets the email; a language model or other extraction component interprets it. Neither Gmail API nor Microsoft Graph automatically identifies verification codes.
How the workflow works
Without a regex, the agent can use the email’s meaning and context rather than a fixed pattern to locate the code. Keep mailbox access and code extraction as separate operations:

- Get authorized access. Confirm that the user or operator has permitted the agent to read the mailbox and the messages needed for this task.
- Find likely messages. Search recent mail using provider-supported criteria, such as the expected sender or domain, subject cues, and received time.
- Retrieve a candidate message. Fetch the likely verification email and provide its body, along with relevant task context, to the extraction step.
- Request a structured result. Require either a code or an explicit not-found response; tell the extractor not to guess if the message is ambiguous.
- Validate before use. Check that the result fits the requesting page or workflow. If several messages or possible codes remain, use stronger context or ask for clarification instead of choosing arbitrarily.
The search-and-validation steps are practical implementation guidance, not a guarantee provided by either email API. Test the extraction against the actual messages your workflow receives.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteChoose the mailbox access route
Use the API that matches the mailbox and the access your application has been authorized to use.

- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
| Route | What it provides | Points to account for |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail API | Google documents access to Gmail mailbox data, including threads, messages, and labels, and supports message search and filtering. Gmail API guide and filtering messages. | Configure OAuth and the required scope, and verify the query against the target mailbox. Gmail API alias searches can differ from alias expansion in the Gmail UI. |
| Microsoft Graph v1.0 | The message endpoint retrieves messages from a mailbox the application is authorized to access. It can return the body as text when the request includes Prefer: outlook.body-content-type="text". Get message. |
Use the appropriate delegated or application mail permissions, and account for tenant and mailbox access. The text preference simplifies body handling; it does not extract a code. |
| IMAP for Gmail | Google documents IMAP as a way for alternative email clients to connect to Gmail. Check Gmail through other email platforms. | Consider whether existing IMAP infrastructure and authentication fit the workflow; IMAP does not remove the need to identify the right message and extract its code. |
Make extraction return a safe, explicit result
Pass the message body and enough context to distinguish this task’s verification email from unrelated mail. For example, the request can require JSON in this shape:
{"code":"value"} or {"code":null,"reason":"not found"}

- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The YubiKey 5 NFC is the most versatile physical passkey, protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts
- WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with popular accounts like Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single YubiKey 5 NFC secures 100+ of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more
- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your YubiKey 5 NFC via USB and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC), to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required
- MOST SECURE PASSKEY: Supports FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, Yubico OTP, OATH-TOTP/HOTP, Smart card (PIV), and OpenPGP. That means it’s versatile, working almost anywhere you need it
- PRIMARY & SPARE KEYS: Just like having a spare house key, we recommend buying two YubiKeys - one for daily use and one as a spare. That way you’ll never get locked out of your accounts
Specify that the extractor must copy a code only when the message clearly identifies one for the current verification task. It should return the not-found form when the code is absent, expired, or ambiguous—not infer a value. Treat the output as untrusted input and validate it against the requesting workflow before using it.
Handle search and extraction failures
- No message found: Recheck the sender, subject cues, and received-time window, then search again. Confirm the provider query behaves as expected for the target mailbox.
- Several candidate emails: Narrow the search with more context, such as the expected sender or a more recent time window. Do not silently select a code from an unrelated or older message.
- Several possible values in one email: Provide the surrounding message and task context to the extractor. If it still cannot distinguish the verification code, stop and request clarification.
- Extraction returns no code: Treat this as a failed extraction. Check that the full message body was retrieved and that the email format is supported; do not invent or guess a code.
Keep mailbox access limited
Mailbox access requires authorization. Grant only the access needed for the workflow and limit which mailbox and messages the agent can read. Microsoft Graph documents delegated and application mail permissions for message retrieval; select permissions appropriate to the application’s authorized access model in the relevant Microsoft Graph operation.
