Choose Hostinger if you want a packaged VPS offer with more RAM and storage at the listed entry level, plus weekly backups and snapshots included in its comparison. Choose Vultr if hourly billing, a particular cloud region, or services such as block storage, object storage, and load balancing matter more. Don’t decide by the lowest advertised price alone: the entry configurations differ sharply, and Hostinger’s displayed rates require a two-year term and rise at renewal.

Hostinger vs Vultr at a glance

This is a comparison of VPS and cloud-compute services, not a hardware review. The specifications and offer prices below come from Hostinger’s comparison dated October 1, 2026; feature and benchmark details also draw on VPSBenchmarks, last updated September 17, 2026. Offers, entitlements, and availability can change, so verify the exact plan and terms before ordering.

Decision point Hostinger VPS Vultr cloud compute
Listed entry configuration 1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe storage; $6.49/month on the displayed two-year offer (Hostinger comparison, October 1, 2026). 1 vCPU, 500 MB RAM, 10 GB NVMe storage; US$2.50/month listed as the entry point (Hostinger comparison, October 1, 2026). The source does not establish a matching term for this price.
Billing approach The displayed KVM offers are tied to two-year terms. The comparison lists no hourly billing for Hostinger (VPSBenchmarks, updated September 17, 2026). Hourly billing is listed by VPSBenchmarks (updated September 17, 2026); confirm the current rate and billing rules for the selected service.
Additional infrastructure The published comparison emphasizes a bundled VPS feature set. VPSBenchmarks lists block storage, object storage, and a load balancer; check current regional availability and product definitions.
Included protections and backups Hostinger’s comparison lists free snapshots, free weekly backups, free DDoS protection, malware scanning, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Hostinger’s comparison does not list free snapshots, a money-back guarantee, free DDoS protection, or malware scanning for Vultr. VPSBenchmarks lists backups and DDoS protection for both providers, without establishing that the coverage or terms are equivalent.

The headline prices do not compare equivalent capacity: Hostinger’s listed entry configuration has eight times Vultr’s entry RAM and five times its NVMe storage. That makes the Vultr figure a lower starting price, not proof that it is cheaper for a workload with comparable resource needs.

What Hostinger’s listed two-year prices cost

Hostinger’s comparison says its prices are shown without VAT. The following totals are arithmetic from the listed monthly rates multiplied by 24 months; actual invoices, taxes, renewal terms, and checkout offers should be confirmed before purchase.

Hostinger plan Resources and bandwidth Displayed initial rate and 24-month total Displayed renewal rate and 24-month equivalent
KVM 1 1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 50 GB NVMe, 4 TB bandwidth $6.49/month for two years; $155.76 before VAT for 24 months $11.99/month; $287.76 before VAT over 24 months at that rate
KVM 2 2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe, 8 TB bandwidth $8.99/month for two years; $215.76 before VAT for 24 months $14.99/month; $359.76 before VAT over 24 months at that rate

The KVM 1 renewal rate is about 85% above its displayed introductory rate; KVM 2’s is about 67% higher. These percentages compare the listed monthly rates, not a guarantee about later pricing. For budgeting, use the renewal rate for the period after the first term rather than assuming the introductory offer continues.

When Hostinger is the better fit

You want a straightforward, fixed-term VPS bundle

The listed KVM 1 starts with 4 GB of RAM and 50 GB of NVMe storage, while KVM 2 doubles those resources. That makes the published Hostinger entry offer worth considering when you want a defined resource bundle and can commit to the stated two-year term. The source does not establish that this bundle is the best value for every application; compare the resources and full-term cost with the configuration your workload actually needs.

You value the listed backup and protection inclusions

Hostinger’s comparison says its VPS plans include free snapshots, free weekly backups, free DDoS protection, malware scanning, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Treat these as claims in that comparison, not as a substitute for checking the current plan’s terms. The same comparison lists daily backups for both providers, while VPSBenchmarks lists backups for both; neither statement by itself confirms identical backup schedules, retention, restore procedures, or coverage.

When Vultr is the better fit

You need cloud services beyond a single VPS

VPSBenchmarks lists Vultr with block storage, object storage, and load balancing, and lists hourly billing as available. Those options can matter if you want to add infrastructure components or avoid a fixed two-year commitment. The feature table does not establish the current price, limitations, or availability of each service in every location, so check the specific product and region before designing around it.

  • 16TB (4 x 4TB) 7.2K 6Gb/s SATA 3.5" HDDs in RAID
  • Hard drives and memory upgrades included separately NOT installed, installation required.

You need a specific deployment region

The published location totals disagree. Hostinger’s October 1, 2026 comparison reports 8 Hostinger data centers and 32 Vultr data centers. VPSBenchmarks, updated September 17, 2026, reports 8 and 31, respectively, and describes those locations as spanning 3 continents for Hostinger and 5 for Vultr. Because the Vultr totals conflict, neither is a reliable substitute for checking whether the exact region you need offers the chosen instance and services.

For an application used by people in a particular geography, identify the nearest suitable region first, then verify that the required compute plan and any storage or networking services are available there. A larger overall location footprint does not guarantee a useful region for your users or a particular deployment.

What the available performance evidence says

VPSBenchmarks reports tests of 16 plans using web-performance, Sysbench, endurance, Geekbench, fio, iperf3, and network-transfer tests. Its grades compare the measured plans in that tested set; they are not service guarantees or predictions for every application. Its methodology says price is excluded from the default grades, so those grades should not be read as a value-for-money ranking.

Tested Hostinger configuration Web performance Raw CPU Stability Disk I/O Network
KVM 2, as tested by VPSBenchmarks B D A B E

These are VPSBenchmarks’ relative category grades for its tested Hostinger KVM 2 plan and methodology, not letter grades guaranteed for a customer’s instance. The mixed results do not establish a universal winner. If your workload is CPU-sensitive, network-heavy, or reliability-critical, compare evidence for the exact plans under relevant tests or benchmark your own application before committing.

VPSBenchmarks also reports average provisioning times of 137 seconds for Hostinger and 80 seconds for Vultr, based on 12 instance creations per provider. This is a small, source-specific sample, not a promise that an individual instance will be ready in that time.

Support and management expectations

Hostinger’s comparison claims support in “8+” languages for Hostinger and English only for Vultr. That is the comparison publisher’s characterization; check each provider’s current support channels, hours, languages, and response terms if support access is a deciding factor. The available feature information does not establish that either service will administer your operating system or application for you. Confirm who handles setup, patching, backups, monitoring, and incident response before relying on a VPS for production.

A practical way to choose

  1. Define the workload. Estimate the RAM, CPU, storage, bandwidth, and any persistence or scaling needs for your website, database, application, automation, or development environment. Do not assume the smallest listed instance is sufficient.
  2. Set the geography. Choose a suitable region based on users and dependencies, then confirm that the exact compute plan and any required storage or networking products are available there.
  3. Compare the full bill. For Hostinger, account for the two-year offer and the displayed renewal rate, and check VAT at checkout. For Vultr, price the specific resource configuration and the billing pattern you expect to use; the cited entry price does not establish a like-for-like total.
  4. Check operational requirements. Verify backup frequency and retention, snapshot and restore behavior, security coverage, support terms, and whether you or the provider manage the server.
  5. Test what matters. If performance or uptime risk is material, evaluate the relevant workload on the exact plan and region rather than selecting from a provider-wide reputation or a single benchmark grade.

Verdict

Hostinger is the more natural fit for a buyer who prefers a packaged VPS with the listed entry-level RAM and storage, included weekly backups and snapshots, and accepts a two-year term with higher displayed renewal rates. Vultr is the stronger candidate when hourly billing, additional cloud infrastructure services, or a particular deployment location is central to the design. For either provider, choose by the exact plan, location, operating requirements, and total cost—not by the entry price alone.
