Neither host wins outright, because they sell different things. Hostinger sells packaged website and cloud hosting plans with a low promotional monthly rate tied to a long prepaid term. Rackspace sells managed cloud operations, meaning engineers and support teams who run, monitor and modernize workloads on public clouds. If you need a website host, Hostinger is the comparison to price first. If you need a team to operate cloud infrastructure, Rackspace is the provider to evaluate. Neither company’s published material establishes speed, uptime or overall value against the other, so this comparison rests on what each service includes and how each one is priced, not on head-to-head testing.
What Hostinger’s plans actually cost
Hostinger’s US web-hosting page lists its plans with a headline monthly figure, but that figure is calculated from a multi-year prepaid term. The page states: “All plans are paid upfront. The monthly rate reflects the total plan price divided by the number of months in your plan.” The offers below are the values displayed on the page at the 2026 review; they are not guaranteed checkout prices, and they can change, so confirm the figure in the cart before you buy.

| Plan | Displayed monthly rate (48-month term) | Upfront total | Displayed renewal rate | Websites | Storage | Backups |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $2.99/mo | $143.52 | $10.99/mo | 3 | 20 GB SSD | Weekly |
| Unlimited | $3.99/mo | $191.52 | $16.99/mo | Unlimited | 50 GB NVMe | Daily |
| Cloud Startup | $7.99/mo | $383.52 | $25.99/mo | Not stated on the cited page | 100 GB NVMe | Daily and on-demand |
Reading the monthly price correctly
The upfront total is the number you will actually pay at purchase: $143.52 for Premium over 48 months, for example, which is the $2.99 monthly figure multiplied by 48. The renewal rate is what applies when the introductory term ends. On the displayed numbers, renewal is roughly 3.7 times the introductory rate for Premium ($10.99 against $2.99), about 4.3 times for Unlimited ($16.99 against $3.99), and about 3.3 times for Cloud Startup ($25.99 against $7.99). A plan that looks cheapest on the first line can cost noticeably more once renewed, so budget against the renewal figure if the site will run for years.

Hostinger’s limits: what “unlimited” does not guarantee
Hostinger’s help center publishes a separate page on resource limits for each plan. It covers parameters that headline feature lists do not show, including:
- CPU and RAM allocation
- Storage
- Inode count (the number of files and folders the account can hold)
- Database limits
- PHP limits
The help article notes that website limits and related parameters were updated on March 18, 2025. Read it for the plan you are considering before you assume that “unlimited websites” also means unlimited processing, memory or file count. Sites with heavy plugins, large media libraries or steady traffic are the ones most likely to hit these ceilings first.
What Rackspace sells
Rackspace does not offer a comparable low-priced shared or packaged website plan. Its published materials describe enterprise cloud management. The managed-services page covers cloud migration, application work, infrastructure build-out, security, DevOps, backup and disaster-recovery planning, performance management and cost optimization. Its Modern Operations page describes 24x7x365 operational and systems-administration support for AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

Rackspace’s Managed OpenStack public-cloud service-level FAQ separates two levels of responsibility. The distinction matters more than any headline price, because it determines which parts of your stack are Rackspace’s job and which remain yours:
Rank #3
- Managed Infrastructure: “Rackspace manages the data center, infrastructure, and virtualization layers.”
- Managed Operations: “Rackspace manages the data center, infrastructure, virtualization layers, operating system, database layer, and web server.”
In practice, Managed Operations takes on the operating system, database and web server in addition to the layers below them. Choosing between the two is a staffing decision as much as a cost decision.
How Rackspace prices its services
Rackspace’s billing documentation says customers generally pay for the services they use. Active cloud servers and load balancers are billed while they are active. For current estimates, Rackspace points customers to individual product pages and its cost calculators. The service-level FAQ also states that infrastructure costs and support costs are determined separately.
Rank #4
That structure means no single Rackspace monthly figure can sit beside Hostinger’s $2.99 or $3.99 offers in a meaningful way. A cost depends on the cloud platform, the amount of capacity you run, the hours it is active, and the management level you select. Comparing a Hostinger plan to a Rackspace quote only makes sense when both describe the same workload.
Side-by-side comparison
| Decision axis | Hostinger | Rackspace | Question to answer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service scope | Packaged website and cloud hosting plans | Managed cloud, multicloud operations, engineering and support | Do you need a website host or a team to run cloud infrastructure? |
| Price structure | Prepaid multi-year term with a displayed monthly equivalent and a higher renewal rate | Usage-based and dependent on service level, per Rackspace’s billing guidance | What is the total cost over the actual term and workload? |
| Operations | Plan features, backups and resource limits are listed by plan | Management responsibility varies by service level (Managed Infrastructure or Managed Operations) | Who patches, monitors, troubleshoots and manages the stack? |
| Scale and technical fit | Compare websites, storage, backups and resource limits by plan | Scoped by cloud platform, architecture, support and engineering needs | What are the workload’s resource, uptime, compliance and staffing requirements? |
Speed, uptime and reliability
Neither company’s cited materials provide an independent, side-by-side performance or uptime measurement, and no standardized Hostinger-versus-Rackspace test is available to report. Claims that one is faster or more reliable would not be supported by the evidence. If performance matters to your decision, run the same site or application on each candidate, measure response times under your real traffic pattern, and compare the results against the uptime commitments each provider states in writing.

Getting a comparable Rackspace quote
A Rackspace estimate cannot be produced from the title question alone. Before requesting one, gather the following so that any quote you receive can be compared with a Hostinger plan on equal terms:
- The cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
- Expected workload size, utilization and hours of activity
- Geography and where your users are located
- Expected traffic
- The service level you want: Managed Infrastructure or Managed Operations
- Which operating-system, database and web-server tasks you will keep in-house
- Uptime, security and compliance requirements
- The staff time you have available to run the parts you keep
Which host to choose
- Write down what you are hosting. A brochure site, blog or small online store is a packaged-hosting question; a cloud application that your team builds and must keep running is a managed-cloud question.
- For a website, price the Hostinger plan you need over its full upfront term and again at the renewal rate. Check the limits page for that plan before purchase.
- For a cloud workload, decide which layers you want Rackspace to run. Then request a quote using the inputs listed above.
- Compare the Rackspace quote with the total cost of your own staff time for every layer you keep, not just the infrastructure bill.
- Before committing, measure performance on your own content and traffic, because the vendors’ published material does not provide a direct comparison.
For further detail, consult Hostinger’s web-hosting plans page and its parameters and limits of hosting plans article. For Rackspace, review its managed services page, its Modern Operations page, its billing overview and its managed cloud service levels FAQ.
