Hostinger Hosting Uses hPanel, Not cPanel: What to Know Before You Switch

Hostinger Web and Cloud hosting uses hPanel rather than cPanel. Here’s what that means for cPanel users, including migration options and account features that need separate handling.

Hostinger’s Web and Cloud hosting plans use hPanel, not cPanel. If you are considering a move from cPanel, Hostinger documents both an online migration route for eligible active sites and a manual backup-and-transfer route. Neither means every part of a hosting account—including email and related settings—moves automatically.

What control panel does Hostinger use?

Hostinger says hPanel is available on all of its Web and Cloud hosting plans. cPanel is relevant here as the panel you may be moving from, not as the panel included with those plans. Hostinger describes hPanel as its own hosting-management interface; its Help Center says it provides features for managing hosting plans and websites.

If your team, documentation, or deployment process specifically depends on cPanel, treat the panel change as a product-fit issue rather than assuming the migration will preserve the same interface or workflow. If you are comfortable using a different panel, assess whether hPanel supports the routine hosting tasks you need.

What changes when you move from cPanel?

A website migration is not necessarily a full hosting-account migration. Hostinger’s general migration instructions identify website files and databases as included, while listing several surrounding services and settings as outside the website migration scope.

  • Email: email migration is not included and needs separate handling.
  • DNS records: review and recreate or otherwise manage the records separately.
  • Cron jobs: inventory scheduled tasks and arrange them separately.
  • Custom SSL configuration: check whether your setup needs to be recreated.
  • FTP accounts: do not assume existing accounts are transferred.

These boundaries matter most for sites that rely on more than their public-facing pages. Before changing DNS, make a list of the site’s databases, scheduled jobs, email addresses, DNS records, certificates, and file-transfer users. Keep the original site available until you have checked the destination.

How to migrate a cPanel website

Use the migration tool for an eligible active cPanel site

For eligible active cPanel sites moving to Hostinger Web or Cloud hosting, Hostinger documents a dashboard migration tool that accepts source-hosting credentials and submits a migration request. Follow the current instructions in Hostinger’s cPanel-to-Web/Cloud migration guide to confirm eligibility and the live process.

Transfer the site manually from a backup

Hostinger also documents a manual route: download and extract the cPanel account backup, upload the website files, create and import the database, then update the application configuration with the destination database details. This route gives you direct control over the file and database transfer, but it does not remove the need to handle email and other excluded settings separately. See Hostinger’s manual cPanel migration instructions.

Plan for multiple sites and internal transfers

Hostinger says bulk migrations are unavailable, so do not plan on one request moving a group of sites together. Its general migration guide also says a move between Hostinger plans or accounts does not qualify for free migration. These are distinct cases from bringing an eligible site in from another cPanel host; check the current instructions for the process that applies to your move at Hostinger’s website migration guide.

Advantages and trade-offs

Potential advantages

  • Hostinger provides a single panel, hPanel, across its Web and Cloud hosting plans, with its support materials covering administration in that environment.
  • cPanel users have documented inbound migration options, rather than being categorically unable to move their sites.
  • There is some independent evidence about usability and performance, but it is limited to the reviewers’ own experiences. HostAdvice describes hands-on navigation of a live account in its hPanel review. TechRadar reports that a test site on the provider’s most basic shared-hosting plan recorded 100% uptime over its 10-week monitoring period in its 2026 review. That is one site and one monitoring window, not a service guarantee.

Trade-offs to consider

  • You will not get cPanel on Hostinger Web or Cloud hosting, so cPanel-specific workflows may need to change.
  • The migration process requires separate planning for email, DNS records, cron jobs, custom SSL configuration, and FTP accounts.
  • Bulk migrations are unavailable, which can make moving multiple sites more involved.
  • An internal move between Hostinger plans or accounts is not eligible for the free migration described for qualifying inbound moves.

Is Hostinger a fit if you want cPanel?

If cPanel itself is a requirement, Hostinger’s Web and Cloud plans do not meet it: they use hPanel. If your real goal is to move a cPanel-hosted website, rather than retain cPanel, the documented migration paths may suit you, provided you plan separately for the parts outside the website transfer.
