On a repeat request, a cacheable static file should show x-hcdn-cache-status: HIT. Hostinger CDN can serve static assets such as images, CSS, JavaScript, fonts and downloads from nearby CDN servers; it does not, by itself, make slow application code or database queries run faster.
How to check whether Hostinger CDN is working
The hPanel setting confirms that CDN is configured for the site. Response headers provide stronger evidence that a particular request actually passed through Hostinger’s CDN and whether a file came from its cache.

- In hPanel, go to Websites → Dashboard → Performance → CDN and confirm the CDN is enabled. Hostinger’s setup and verification guide describes this dashboard check.
- Open the site in a browser, open developer tools, and select the Network panel.
- Reload the page. Select a request for a static asset, such as an image or CSS file, and inspect its response headers.
- Look for
x-hcdn-request-id. Its presence indicates the request passed through Hostinger CDN. - Check
x-hcdn-cache-statusfor that static file. If the first request saysMISS, reload and inspect the request again. A repeatHITis evidence that the file was served from cache.
Test a static asset rather than relying only on the HTML document: HTML may not be cacheable, and session-specific requests can be excluded from caching.

Hostinger describes its CDN as caching and serving static files from CDN servers nearer to visitors. Eligible content includes images, CSS, JavaScript, fonts and downloadable files. Its listed features also include image optimization, compression, TLS 1.3 connection setup and HTTP/3 for sites using their own domain. These features can reduce transfer or connection overhead, but the benefit to the whole page depends on what is taking the time to load. Hostinger’s CDN overview explains the service and its limits.

Static files and images
Static assets are the clearest candidates for edge caching: after a cacheable file is stored, visitors can receive it from a CDN location closer to them instead of fetching it from the hosting origin each time. Hostinger’s published default cache durations are up to 2 hours for static files and up to 30 minutes for optimized images on web hosting. These are cache lifetimes, not speed measurements or guaranteed delivery times.
HTML and server-side work
Server-generated HTML is fetched from the hosting server on each request by default. Hostinger says HTML can be cached if a site marks it publicly cacheable; logged-in and cart requests are bypassed. The LiteSpeed Cache plugin’s stated default public page-cache lifetime is 7 days (max-age=604800), but that is a separate page-cache setting, not a CDN speed-gain figure. Hostinger’s CDN overview covers HTML behavior and cache lifetimes.

A CDN does not make a slow plugin, theme, database query or application routine execute faster. If server processing or render-blocking scripts dominate the page load, an enabled CDN may have little effect on the total time or a Lighthouse or PageSpeed score. Hostinger’s reviewed guidance gives no representative percentage uplift, so a specific speed improvement cannot be promised.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat the cache-status headers mean
| Header value or pattern | What it indicates | What to check |
|---|---|---|
x-hcdn-request-id is present |
The request passed through Hostinger CDN. | Use this as the routing check; it does not by itself prove the file was served from cache. |
x-hcdn-cache-status: MISS |
The requested object was not served from cache on that request. A first request after enabling or clearing the cache may fill it. | Reload and inspect the same static asset again. |
x-hcdn-cache-status: HIT |
The response was served from Hostinger CDN cache. | This is the repeat-request result to look for on a cacheable static file. |
BYPASS |
The request bypassed caching; Hostinger identifies Development mode as one possible cause. | Turn off Development mode when you are no longer editing, then retest. |
DYNAMIC |
The response was not cached, which can be normal for non-cacheable HTML or private, session-specific requests. | Test a public static file before treating this as a CDN failure. |
These interpretations are from Hostinger’s CDN verification guide and its CDN overview.

- WORKS WITH YOUR EXISTING INTERNET SERVICE: Pairs with your existing modem or gateway via ethernet. Compatible with most cable, fiber, DSL, and satellite providers. Some gateways and modem router combos may require bridge mode. No coax needed.
- SET UP AND MANAGE YOUR NETWORK WITH THE NIGHTHAWK APP: Download the free Nighthawk app on iOS or Android for guided setup. Manage WiFi, run speed tests, pause devices, and set up guest networks from anywhere. Active internet required.
- READY FOR THE DEVICES YOU ALREADY OWN: Your phones, laptops, and TVs work right out of the box. WiFi 6 delivers speeds up to 1.8 Gbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Backward compatible with WiFi 5 and earlier.
- COVERAGE IN EVERY ROOM: Covers up to 1,500 sq. ft. for up to 20 connected devices. Walls, floors, and interference can reduce range. Larger or multi-story homes may benefit from a NETGEAR Orbi mesh WiFi system.
Why an enabled CDN may not improve page speed
- The check stopped at the dashboard. An enabled setting is a configuration check; headers show whether a request is routed through Hostinger CDN and whether an asset was cached.
- The tested request was the first one. A cache miss may be expected immediately after activation or a cache clear. Repeat the request to see whether it becomes a hit.
- The page depends on origin work. Dynamic HTML, database queries and application execution still need the hosting server unless the HTML is publicly cacheable.
- Another proxy is in front. A second CDN can complicate routing and caching. Hostinger recommends using only one active CDN for a website.
- The test location is close to the origin. Geographic distance affects the potential benefit. Compare from another region when possible.
For a useful comparison, inspect a static asset and the HTML document separately, and repeat the same page request so a first cache fill is not mistaken for the steady-state result. There is no published representative uplift from Hostinger that supports promising a particular percentage or score change.
Troubleshoot missing headers, misses and stale files
No Hostinger request header appears
If hPanel says enabled but the response lacks x-hcdn-request-id, check whether DNS changes have propagated, whether the domain uses Hostinger nameservers, and whether another proxy such as Cloudflare is in front. Hostinger CDN requires Hostinger-managed nameservers/DNS to route the domain. Hostinger’s Cloudflare compatibility guidance explains the nameserver conflict.

A static asset keeps showing MISS or a request shows BYPASS
Repeat the static-file request after the initial miss. If the status is BYPASS, check whether Development mode is active and disable it when editing is finished. A DYNAMIC response is not necessarily an error; it can simply be content that should not be cached.

Hostinger and Cloudflare cache headers both appear
If both x-hcdn-cache-status and cf-cache-status appear, the site is using a double-CDN setup. Hostinger recommends only one active CDN at a time. Choose which service will handle CDN routing and configure DNS accordingly rather than layering both services. Hostinger’s Cloudflare guidance describes the setup considerations.

Updated content still looks stale
Flush the Hostinger CDN cache, then clear browser, server or plugin caches separately if needed. A Hostinger CDN flush clears only that CDN cache layer; it does not purge the other caches. See Hostinger’s CDN cache-clearing instructions.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Plan eligibility and choosing a CDN
Hostinger’s current plan guide says CDN is included on eligible hosting plans and that eligible web-hosting sites began automatic activation in August 2026, with an email notification before the change. It says there is no separate CDN subscription or per-visit fee. Eligibility and dashboard controls can vary by plan and account, so check the current plan table and the site’s hPanel rather than assuming every Hostinger site has the same options. Hostinger’s plan page lists current plan details.
Hostinger CDN is configured in hPanel and requires Hostinger nameservers; Cloudflare is managed in its own dashboard and uses Cloudflare nameservers. If you switch nameserver providers, review DNS records first, especially email-related MX records and verification TXT records. A nameserver change can affect services beyond the website. Hostinger’s guidance recommends not running both CDNs for one site at the same time.
