Hiding a page from navigation is different
Removing a page from the navigation menu only removes its menu entry. The page remains accessible at its URL and may still appear in search results. Use the page’s SEO setting above to signal that it should not be indexed. Hostinger explains the distinction in its navigation menu guide.

It asks Google not to index the page
Google describes the noindex robots meta tag as a rule telling it not to index content or show it in Google Search. A page with this directive can still be visited directly or reached through links; it is not access control. See Google’s noindex guidance.
Google has to crawl the page to see the directive
If the page has already appeared in Google, it may remain there until Google crawls it again and reads the noindex tag. Removal is not immediate, and recrawl timing varies. You can use Google Search Console’s URL Inspection tool to request a recrawl, but a request does not guarantee immediate removal. Keep the page crawlable: blocking it in robots.txt can stop Google from seeing the noindex directive, and a blocked URL may still appear in search results. See Google’s indexing guidance.

It does not make confidential content private
Use password protection to restrict access to private content, or remove the content if it should no longer be available. A noindex setting addresses search visibility, not who can open the URL. Google discusses access controls in its guidance on controlling shared content.
