Hostinger AI Builder: How to Add Links in Manual Mode

Learn how to link navigation items, text, images, buttons, social icons, footer elements, and page sections in Hostinger AI Builder manual mode.

In Hostinger AI Builder’s manual mode, the steps depend on what you want to make clickable: use Pages and navigation for a menu link, or edit the text, image, button, or social-icons element directly. Hostinger’s support instructions, checked October 4, 2026, cover links to web addresses, pages, files, sections, phone numbers, email addresses, and WhatsApp numbers.

Add a link to the navigation menu

  1. Open Pages and navigation from the left-hand panel, then select Add link.
  2. Rename the navigation entry so visitors can tell where it leads.
  3. Under Link to, choose a web address, existing page, file download, section, phone number, email address, or WhatsApp number, then enter or select the destination.
  4. Optionally enable Open in new tab. For a page link, you can also hide the page from the navigation menu.
  5. Save the changes. For a section destination, first create the anchor on that section as described below.

These menu-link controls are documented in Hostinger’s manual-mode guide to adding links.

Make text clickable

  1. Select the text element and choose Edit text.
  2. Highlight the specific words that should be clickable.
  3. Select the link symbol, choose the destination, and optionally turn on Open in new tab.
  4. Save the change.

Highlighting the words first applies the link to that text rather than the entire text element.

Link an image or button

Image

  1. Select the image and open Edit image.
  2. Open the Action tab and set On click to Open link.
  3. Choose the destination and, if wanted, enable Open in new tab.
  4. Close the settings box; Hostinger says the image-link change saves automatically.

Button

  1. Select the button and open Edit button.
  2. Optionally change its label, then select the destination.
  3. Optionally enable Open in new tab, then close the settings box to save automatically.

Set up a social-media link

  1. Add a social icons element to the page and select it.
  2. Choose Edit social icons.
  3. Select the settings wheel beside a suggested icon and enter the profile or destination URL.
  4. Use Add new link to add another platform, then close the settings box to save automatically.

Link to a section on the page

Create an anchor on the destination section before selecting that section as a link target. Hostinger’s instructions are in its guide to linking to a particular section.

  1. Open the settings for the section you want visitors to reach and select the Anchor tab.
  2. Enter an anchor name beginning with #, such as #contact-form. The name after the hash must start with a letter; #1-anchor-name is not accepted.
  3. Close the section settings to save the anchor.
  4. Edit a navigation item, text link, image, or button, and select that section as its destination.
  5. Update the website to publish the changes online.

Anchors are not supported for blog, slideshow, or store sections. They can also be used for a back-to-top button by linking the button to an anchor at the top of the page.

Add links in the footer

Hostinger’s footer workflow is useful for links such as contact, policy, or other supporting pages. Its manual-mode footer guide describes these steps:

  1. Create the destination pages first, if they do not already exist.
  2. Optionally hide those pages from the navigation menu. A hidden page is still accessible by its URL.
  3. Add a footer section, then add text or buttons and link them to the intended destinations. Images and social icons can also be linked.
  4. Choose whether the footer appears on one page or is pinned across pages; you can hide a pinned footer on selected pages.
  5. Update the website so the footer changes appear online.

Understand the follow setting

Hostinger says links added to website elements use the nofollow attribute by default, and that the setting can be changed in the link settings. See its manual-mode guidance on dofollow and nofollow links. Changing this setting does not guarantee a search-ranking result.

If the link does not work as expected

  • The wrong words are clickable: edit the text again and highlight the intended words before adding the link.
  • An image does nothing when clicked: check that On click is set to Open link in the image’s Action tab.
  • A section link is missing or fails: confirm the destination section has an anchor beginning with #, and that the section is not a blog, slideshow, or store section.
  • A change is not visible on the live site: update the website after making anchor or footer changes.

The instructions above reflect Hostinger Support documentation checked October 4, 2026; interface labels and workflows may change.
