HostGator vs FastComet: Compare Renewal Costs, Limits and Backups

HostGator and FastComet cannot be ranked on performance from the available evidence. Compare exact renewal costs, plan limits, backup terms, and refund eligibility before choosing.

Neither HostGator nor FastComet can be declared the overall winner from the available evidence. There is no controlled, independent head-to-head performance test, and the published plan details do not line up cleanly enough for a like-for-like verdict. For a small website, compare the exact initial-term charge and renewal price, the sites and storage included, backup and restore terms, and refund eligibility—not just the promotional monthly rate.

Which web host wins?

It depends on what you need and what the complete bill will be after the introductory term. FastComet publishes a four-tier shared-hosting price and storage table. HostGator’s cited pages explain how promotions and renewals work, but they do not establish a matching set of current renewal prices or comparable shared-plan limits. That leaves price and features to verify against the specific plans at checkout.

Performance is also unresolved. HostGator advertises a 99.9% uptime guarantee, while FastComet promotes performance features and server locations. Those are provider statements, not the results of matched, independent monitoring. FastComet’s own comparison page makes claims in its favor, but it is vendor-authored and is not independent evidence.

Which is cheaper after renewal?

FastComet’s pricing page displayed the following monthly promotional and regular rates when checked on October 7, 2026. FastComet says the promotional price applies to the first term and renews at the regular rate. The actual total depends on the term and checkout details, so confirm both the billing period and renewal charge before ordering.

FastComet shared plan Promotional monthly rate Regular monthly rate Websites NVMe storage
Starter $1.99 $9.95 1 10 GB
Essential $2.99 $12.95 1 20 GB
Plus $3.99 $17.95 Unlimited 30 GB
Extra $5.49 $24.95 Unlimited 40 GB

These are FastComet’s published plan figures, not a guarantee that the sites on each plan will perform equally at the listed limits. Check FastComet’s pricing and plan terms; prices can vary by term and checkout details.

HostGator says its special offers apply to the initial term, with renewal charged at the regular rate shown in the customer control panel. The cited pricing information does not establish a specific current renewal amount for a comparable plan, so a precise price winner cannot be named. Review HostGator’s pricing terms and check the renewal amount for the plan and term you select.

Which plan limits can you compare?

FastComet lists one website on Starter and Essential, and unlimited websites on Plus and Extra, with storage increasing from 10 GB to 40 GB across the four plans. These are published limits, not a performance comparison. The available HostGator pricing information does not provide a clean, matching shared-plan table for websites and storage, so do not assume a HostGator tier has equivalent limits based on its name or price.

For multiple sites or a larger workload, compare the specific resource limits and restrictions shown for both plans. If you are considering VPS rather than shared hosting, compare equivalent resource configurations and support responsibilities; shared-plan prices alone cannot answer that question.

Does FastComet have better backups?

The cited HostGator shared-hosting page advertises daily automatic backups, while its pricing page describes backups as a courtesy. FastComet’s comparison page claims free daily backups, and its pricing page lists a Restore Manager. These descriptions do not establish backup retention, whether you can download a separate copy, restore charges, or recovery conditions on a matched plan.

Before choosing either host, check the plan terms for how long backups are kept, what can be restored, whether restoration costs extra, and how to request recovery. A daily-backup claim is not the same as a verified recovery result.

How do the refund and reliability claims compare?

HostGator advertises a 45-day money-back guarantee for shared hosting. Its pricing terms say the guarantee covers basic hosting but exclude certain other charges, including domain registration, setup, and additional services. FastComet lists a 30-day money-back guarantee on its shared plans. Check each provider’s contract for eligibility and exclusions before buying; the advertised window alone does not tell you which charges qualify.

HostGator also advertises a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Treat that as a provider guarantee, not independent evidence that a site will achieve that uptime. The cited material does not provide a controlled comparison of uptime or speed between equivalent HostGator and FastComet plans.

Which host is better for a small business website?

Start with the requirements of the site rather than a brand-level winner. For one modest website, compare entry plans and their renewal totals. For several sites, check whether the specific plan permits them and whether its storage and other limits fit. For a business where downtime or data loss would be costly, examine the uptime-guarantee terms and backup restoration process, and keep an independent backup rather than relying only on a hosting feature description.

  1. Match the workload: choose equivalent hosting types and verify website, storage, and resource limits in each plan.
  2. Compare the complete cost: record the initial-term total, renewal rate, billing duration, and any charges that are not included.
  3. Read the operational terms: confirm refund eligibility, backup retention, restore procedure, and any restoration fees.
  4. Use evidence suited to the decision: treat vendor guarantees and feature claims as claims; seek independent monitoring or testing if measured performance is decisive.

What the provider comparisons can—and cannot—show

FastComet’s HostGator comparison page claims advantages for FastComet, including more server locations. Because it is written by FastComet and hosted on a staging subdomain, it should be read as the provider’s own comparison, not neutral verification. The cited information does not establish whether the location counts or feature claims apply currently across all regions.

Likewise, advertised prices, guarantees, and feature lists can help identify what to verify, but they do not substitute for matched plan terms or independent performance measurements. The available evidence supports a careful plan-by-plan decision, not a universal winner.
