HORSE CLUB Ride West is a single-player horse adventure from Wild River Games. The official descriptions place Hannah, Sofia, Sarah and Lisa at Wild River Ranch, where you learn Western riding, explore, compete in barrel racing and pole bending, and take part in archery, painting and guitar activities. Steam also describes six horses with different traits, so handling may vary by horse even though the official pages do not yet explain the control model in detail.

The developer lists an October 2026 release window. Steam and Nintendo list October 9, 2026. Steam’s current store result still marks the game as not yet available, so there are no publisher-verified post-launch benchmarks or player-tested presets to quote yet. That distinction matters: the hardware table below is a set of published requirements, not a promise of a particular resolution or frame rate.

Steam publishes the following Windows requirements. Use the minimum column to check whether the game is expected to start on a qualifying configuration and the recommended column as the stronger baseline for a more comfortable experience. Neither column establishes an exact FPS result.

How to use the table
- In Windows, open Settings > System > About to see your processor and installed RAM. Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display for display information.
- Open Task Manager > Performance and select Memory or GPU to identify the installed memory and graphics processor.
- Compare the exact model names, not only the amount of memory. Having 8 GB of RAM does not make a graphics card equivalent to the recommended GTX 1060 or RX 570.
- Keep at least 4 GB free on the installation drive, while allowing additional headroom for Windows updates and temporary files.
If your computer falls below the minimum processor or graphics entry, the official listing gives no supported workaround. Avoid assuming that a particular low preset, resolution, or frame-rate cap will make an under-spec system reliable; those options have not been documented for this game.
Controller setup for easier riding and activities
Steam identifies full controller support and specifically lists Xbox Controllers. That makes a compatible Xbox-style controller a reasonable option on PC if keyboard input feels awkward for steering, mounted activities or camera movement. It is a comfort and control choice, not evidence that a controller increases frame rate or removes stutter.

Set up a controller on PC
- Connect the controller by USB or pair it in Windows Bluetooth settings before starting the game. A wired connection removes battery and wireless-interference variables while you are diagnosing input.
- Confirm that Windows sees it under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices (Bluetooth) or in the controller’s USB connection status.
- Start HORSE CLUB Ride West from Steam and look for controller prompts in the title screen or settings menu.
- If the game still shows keyboard prompts, close it, reconnect the controller, and launch again. The store listing confirms support but does not document a universal button map.
- Use the game’s own input menu, if present, to inspect whether sensitivity, inversion or remapping controls are available. Do not assume these options exist until they are visible in your installed build.
Steam’s listing does not say that every third-party pad is supported, that controls are remappable, or that a controller is faster. An Xbox-compatible device is the safest match to the hardware category named by the listing.

What graphics settings are actually documented
The available official pages do not specify graphics presets, resolution choices, frame-rate caps, V-sync, camera sensitivity, shadow quality, anti-aliasing or other tuning controls. They also do not identify a tested combination that improves performance. Consequently, there is no verified “best settings” preset to copy before release.

Launch-day settings workflow
- Open the game’s settings menu after installation and record which display, graphics and input options are present. Menu labels can differ between PC and console.
- Run the opening area at your monitor’s normal resolution first. Change one option at a time only if the menu exposes it; this makes any change in smoothness or image quality attributable to a single setting.
- Play a repeatable activity, such as riding around the ranch or entering barrel racing, for several minutes before judging a change. A quiet menu cannot show how the game behaves while moving through the world.
- If the game offers a frame-rate display, use it as an observation tool rather than treating an unverified target as guaranteed. If it offers no counter, judge consistency during movement and camera turns.
- Write down the original values so you can restore them after experimenting. The official listings do not guarantee that a later patch will retain custom settings.
This process is deliberately conservative. It avoids presenting generic PC advice as a tested result for Ride West.

If the game will not start
- Confirm that Windows is 10 or newer and that DirectX 11 support is available, matching both requirement columns.
- Check that the processor, graphics card and RAM meet at least the minimum entries. A machine can have enough storage and still fail the graphics requirement.
- Verify that at least 4 GB is free on the installation drive. Leave extra space for the operating system and updates rather than filling the drive to capacity.
- Install the game’s current updates through Steam before drawing conclusions from an early build. Because the game is listed as not yet available at the time of writing, no launch patch behavior can be confirmed here.
If play is visibly uneven
- Compare your hardware with the recommended column, especially the jump from 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM and from the GT 710/HD 8570D class to the GTX 1060/RX 570 class.
- Close unnecessary applications and overlays while testing so that available memory and GPU time are easier to interpret. This is a general diagnostic step, not a game-specific benchmark result.
- Check whether the problem occurs only during world traversal, camera turns or a particular activity. Record the location and action; that information is more useful for a support report than a vague statement that the game is “slow.”

If controls feel difficult
- Try the supported Xbox-style controller before changing unrelated graphics options. A different input device can address steering comfort even when performance is unchanged.

- Test the same movement with one horse and then another. Steam says the six horses have distinct traits, so handling differences may be part of the design rather than a fault with your controller.

The console listings describe platform support, but they do not publish PC-style graphics controls or measured performance targets.

Choosing between PC and console

What to expect from the riding controls
The game’s activities imply several control contexts: ordinary exploration, Western riding, barrel racing, pole bending, archery, painting and guitar playing. The official descriptions do not publish button-by-button instructions, so a guide that assigns keys or controller buttons before launch would be speculative. Use the on-screen prompts and tutorial instructions in the released game, and note whether the same stick, trigger or button behaves differently between riding and minigames.
Because six horses are described as having distinct traits, allow for deliberate handling variation. A horse that feels slower to turn is not automatically evidence of input lag; compare the behavior with the horse’s listed in-game description before troubleshooting hardware.
What is still unknown
As of the October 2026 launch window, the official listings do not answer several practical questions: the available graphics presets, supported resolutions, frame-rate limits, V-sync behavior, camera sensitivity, remapping, subtitle controls and measured performance on the listed hardware.
