Choose Pulsetto if you want a hands-free neckband with app-guided sessions. Choose Hoolest VeRelief Prime if you’d rather hold a device and skip the app. That’s a difference in routine, not in results. Nothing we reviewed shows that either device treats anxiety, insomnia or panic, and nothing shows that one outperforms the other.

The prices come from different models and different dates, so they aren’t a like-for-like cost comparison. Bundles, sales, region and included supplies change often. Check the live checkout total, and add the ongoing cost of gel or replacement tips.

How each device fits into your routine
Pulsetto: wear it and follow the app
Pulsetto is a neckband. Once it’s on, you don’t have to hold anything or aim at a spot. Pulsetto’s official page says the newest model, Pulsetto FIT, ships with free app access, a gel tube, a USB-C cable and a user guide. It claims roughly 20% longer battery life than Pulsetto Lite and a wave-like stimulation pattern. Those are manufacturer statements. Gel is a required part of the routine, so factor in the mess and the refills.
Hoolest VeRelief Prime: handheld and app-free
VeRelief Prime is held against the neck area and used on one side at a time. Wareable’s reviewers found placement and holding it less convenient than a wearable. That’s one review’s experience and may not match yours. If you dislike apps, accounts and subscriptions, the app-free design is a real advantage. You’ll need to replace the gel tips over time.

Don’t mix up Hoolest Pro
Hoolest Pro is a separate headphone product. Its features and claims don’t apply to VeRelief Prime, and Hoolest’s own page says the Pro is not intended to treat any medical condition or nervous system disorder. Check that any listing you’re reading is for the Prime.
What the evidence does and doesn’t show
The only device-specific study we found for either product is a summary hosted by Pulsetto (its EU site, with a 2025 copyright footer). It describes an open-label, parallel-group study of 40 healthy adults. Thirty-seven completed four weeks of unilateral or bilateral stimulation. The summary reports a statistically significant drop in hair cortisol across the sample (p = 0.013), plus changes in self-reported depression, anxiety and sleep measures. It also says larger studies are needed to confirm the findings and clarify mechanisms.

That makes it preliminary. It was open-label, so participants knew they were being treated. The authors were healthy adults, not patients, and the source is the manufacturer. A cortisol result also isn’t the same as clinical benefit. Wareable likewise says evidence for these devices is early. We found no head-to-head trial of Hoolest and Pulsetto and no independent long-term comparison. Evidence about non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation in general isn’t evidence for any one consumer device.
Safety: read before you buy
Pulsetto’s listed restrictions
Pulsetto’s support page lists active implanted electronic devices and metal devices near the neck as contraindications. It advises against using it at the same time as another stimulation device or a portable electronic device. It also says safety and efficacy haven’t been evaluated in several groups: children, pregnancy, certain cardiovascular conditions and arrhythmias, fainting history, seizures and abnormal neck anatomy.

Hoolest’s safety page covers the ear, not the neck
Hoolest’s safety page discusses auricular (ear) stimulation only and says its points “do not apply to cervical vagus nerve stimulation.” Follow the Prime’s current manual rather than assuming ear-stimulation safety claims transfer to neck use. Ask the company directly if the manual doesn’t cover your situation.
An adverse-event report, with context
The FDA’s MAUDE database includes a voluntary report involving Pulsetto. The reporter described palpitations, fatigue and ventricular arrhythmias after use, and the report is classed as serious injury. It’s one person’s account and doesn’t establish that the device caused the event or how common such events are. It’s a reason to take heart-related cautions seriously, not a measure of risk.
