What changes with the X9d?
Battery: a larger listed capacity, but the same charging rate
HONOR lists the X9d at 8300mAh typical capacity, compared with 6600mAh for the X9c. The X9d’s product notes separately give 8100mAh as its rated capacity; typical and rated figures are different specifications, not interchangeable claims. Both phones are listed for 66W wired charging. HONOR says the original charger and cable are required to reach the maximum supported charging power.

Display: higher peak-brightness rating
Both displays are listed as 1.5K resolution, 120Hz adaptive panels. HONOR gives the X9d a peak-brightness figure of up to 6000 nits, versus up to 4000 nits for the X9c. Those are peak specifications, not a promise that either screen sustains that brightness during ordinary use.
Chipset: a newer generation in the X9d
The X9c uses Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, while the X9d uses Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. HONOR reports 29% higher GPU performance and 11% higher CPU performance versus the previous generation. Those percentages are the manufacturer’s claims, not independent benchmark results, and do not establish how much faster a particular app or game will feel.

Cameras: same listed resolution, not proof of equal or better photos
HONOR lists a 108MP main camera and 16MP front camera for both phones. The X9c comparison entry specifies OIS and EIS for its main camera; HONOR describes the X9d as having improved OIS and AI features. Megapixel counts and feature descriptions alone do not establish which phone takes better real-world photos or video. If camera quality is a deciding factor, compare independent sample images and footage from the exact regional models.

HONOR’s comparison lists IP64 for the X9c and IP69K, IP68 and IP66 for the X9d, alongside manufacturer drop claims of up to 2m and 2.5m, respectively. These ratings and drop figures concern controlled tests, not every accident or exposure. HONOR identifies smooth granite in its X9d drop-test conditions and warns that water and dust protection can diminish with wear; water resistance is not permanent.

Price difference: what is established
HONOR’s Malaysian launch announcement, dated 10 October 2025, set the X9d’s starting price at RM1,499, and its Malaysia comparison guide also lists that starting price. This is a Malaysian launch/starting price, not a verified current transaction price or a price for other countries. The announcement listed launch sales through HONOR Experience Store, Lazada, Shopee, Seng Heng, Maxis, CelcomDigi and other retail stores.
The official information cited here does not establish the X9c’s current like-for-like price or the X9d’s present street price. That means there is no verified current premium to quote. Compare live local offers for the same storage configuration, regional model and warranty before deciding whether the X9d’s upgrades justify the difference.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the X9d if its upgrades match your priorities
- You want the larger battery capacity listed for the X9d or its reverse-charging feature.
- You value a higher stated peak-brightness rating for outdoor viewing.
- You prefer the newer listed chipset and accept that HONOR’s performance percentages are vendor claims.
- You place greater weight on the X9d’s listed resistance ratings and manufacturer drop-test claim, while understanding they are not guarantees against damage.
Consider the X9c if it is substantially cheaper
The X9c may be the better-value purchase if a current local offer makes it materially cheaper and you do not need the X9d’s larger listed battery, newer chipset or higher durability and brightness ratings. That is a price-dependent judgment, not a fixed verdict: the current premium has not been established.
