The Honor Life S3 looks like a credible rival to the Xteink X4 Pro, but it is not an obvious reason for an Xteink owner to switch. Honor’s reported reader is smaller and lighter; the Xteink has a larger screen, a front light, and physical page-turn buttons. There is also a practical hurdle: as of September 29, 2026, Honor’s global availability had not been confirmed.
How the Honor Life S3 and Xteink X4 Pro compare
The Honor specifications below come from TechRadar’s September 29, 2026 report, not an official Honor product page. Xteink’s figures are listed on its product page.

| Feature | Honor Life S3 | Xteink X4 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 3.68 inches, 259 PPI (TechRadar report) | 4.3 inches, 219 PPI (Xteink product page) |
| Weight | 61 g (TechRadar report) | 72 g (Xteink product page) |
| Thickness | 5.6 mm (TechRadar report) | 5.95 mm (Xteink product page) |
| Controls | Touchscreen only (TechRadar report) | Touchscreen and physical buttons (Xteink product page) |
| Front light | Not stated in TechRadar’s report | Yes (Xteink product page) |
| Phone attachment | Magnetic phone attachment (TechRadar report) | Magnetic backplate (Xteink product page) |
The Honor is reported to be 11 g lighter and 0.35 mm thinner. That favors pocketability, but the Xteink’s 4.3-inch display gives more physical reading area than the Honor’s 3.68-inch screen. The Honor’s higher pixel density does not mean larger text or a larger display; it describes how tightly pixels are packed.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat the smaller screen and controls mean while reading
The Honor’s dimensions may appeal if minimizing bulk is the priority. But both devices are very small readers, and a small screen means more frequent page turns than on a conventional e-reader. WIRED notes that frequent page turns are one of the Xteink’s drawbacks. The Honor’s smaller reported display does not resolve that limitation.

Control preference is another meaningful difference. Honor is reported to rely on touch alone. The Xteink combines touch with physical buttons, which gives readers a button-based option for page turns. The Xteink also has a front light; TechRadar’s Honor report does not establish whether the Life S3 has one, so do not assume the two match on low-light reading.
Where the books come from
Honor Life S3
TechRadar reports that the Life S3 runs a custom operating system rather than Android and uses Honor Smart Space for wireless book transfers. It supports microSD storage and common ebook and document formats, but the report says it does not provide access to the Kindle or Kobo stores. Its usefulness therefore depends on having book files to transfer, rather than buying through those storefronts on the device.

Xteink X4 Pro
Xteink lists EPUB and TXT document support, along with JPG and BMP image support. Its product page specifies a 16 GB microSD card, expandable to 256 GB, and lists Wi-Fi at 2.4 GHz. WIRED also notes that the X4 Pro has no built-in ebook store: readers need to source and manage their own files. Its listed transfer options include app and USB workflows.

If your library mainly lives in a Kindle or Kobo account and you want to browse or buy titles directly on a reader, neither comparison point here establishes that these pocket devices will replace that store-based experience.

Is the Honor Life S3 available where you live?
TechRadar reported on September 29, 2026 that the Honor Life S3 had been announced only for China, with global availability unconfirmed at that time. The report does not establish current availability in other countries. Check local retail and Honor announcements before treating it as a device you can readily buy; the available evidence does not support a dependable Honor price or purchase route.
The Xteink has a more concrete buying path: WIRED’s review page listed an Amazon option at $99 when it was crawled. That is a crawl-time listing, not a guaranteed current price or stock status. The amount of the Xteink’s battery is listed by the manufacturer as 1100 mAh; the cited product information does not provide a comparable battery-life figure for either device.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should an Xteink X4 Pro owner regret buying it?
Not on the available comparison. The Honor appears to be a compelling alternative for someone who values a lighter, thinner body and can actually obtain one. For an Xteink owner, though, its reported advantage in size comes alongside a smaller screen, touchscreen-only controls, and no confirmed front light. The Xteink retains practical advantages in reading area, buttons, and lighting.

TechRadar writer James Rogerson summed up the existing-owner question this way: “Personally, there’s nothing here that would tempt me away from the Xteink X4 Pro that I already have, but if I didn’t already own that device and this was available, I’d certainly consider it.” Availability matters to that judgment: an alternative that cannot be confirmed for your market is not yet a straightforward replacement.
