A budget Android phone may be able to run the Gemini app or use Gemini as its assistant, but that does not mean it supports Google’s more advanced, device-qualified Gemini Intelligence features. Those are separate levels of AI access.
Is there an HMD Vibe 2 Pro?
HMD’s official product page identifies the phone as the HMD Vibe2 5G, not “HMD Vibe 2 Pro.” The page is for India, so its pricing and availability should not be treated as global. It lists 4 GB/128 GB and 6 GB/128 GB versions at ₹13,999 and ₹19,999 respectively; those are listed prices, not guaranteed transaction prices.

HMD’s page specifies Android 16, a 6000 mAh battery, two 50 MP rear cameras, an 8 MP selfie camera, and two years of quarterly security updates from the model’s global launch. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not independent battery, camera, or performance test results.
Does the HMD Vibe2 5G have Gemini?
Google’s baseline compatibility criteria make Gemini access possible on many budget Android phones: Android 9 or later and at least 2 GB of RAM, subject to supported-country availability. Android Go devices are excluded. Google also requires setup and an internet connection, and says availability and features can depend on the device, account, language, and country. The Vibe2 5G’s listed Android version and RAM configurations meet those baseline operating-system and memory thresholds. That does not establish whether Gemini is preinstalled, selected as the phone’s default assistant, or available with every feature in a particular market. Check the device’s software and Google account setup in your region rather than assuming a specific default configuration.
Google says “Hey Google” continues to work as a hotword: when Gemini is available on a device, it can invoke Gemini; otherwise, it may invoke Google Assistant. Hotword behavior also depends on device availability and setup. A phone’s ability to access Gemini should not be confused with HMD advertising a separate built-in AI assistant for that model.
Gemini access is not the same as Gemini Intelligence
Google’s “Gemini Intelligence” label covers more advanced, device-qualified functions. Google’s current eligibility guidance calls for at least 12 GB of RAM, a qualified system-on-chip (SoC), advanced on-device AI processing, and other performance capabilities. Its named devices include Pixel 11 models and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 models. Google notes that individual features may vary by country, language, and device type. HMD lists the Vibe2 5G with 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, below that 12 GB threshold, and it is not among the phones named in Google’s current eligibility information. The available information therefore does not establish Gemini Intelligence support for the Vibe2 5G. Installing or invoking the Gemini app, where available, is a different capability from qualifying for those advanced features.

How to compare budget phones for AI
“Built-in AI” can mean anything from access to a cloud-connected assistant to features that depend on a phone’s hardware and run on-device. Compare the specific assistant and feature you want, not just the label in an advertisement.

There is not enough verified information here to rank the Vibe2 5G against named competing budget phones: regional models, current prices, software support, and device-specific AI features would all need to be checked. A fair comparison should use phones sold in the same market and verify the exact RAM configuration and AI feature eligibility for each one.

What HMD’s feature-phone AI announcement does—and does not—say
HMD separately announced an AI assistant for a new generation of smart feature phones, describing voice actions such as calls, alarms, torch control, and simple questions. That announcement does not identify the Vibe2 5G as one of those feature phones, so it is not evidence that this Android smartphone has HMD’s separate assistant.
