The Hisense PX4-PRO is a premium ultra-short-throw (UST) projector best suited to buyers who want a very large living-room picture, strong gaming flexibility at 1080p, and built-in smart TV and audio features. Its main compromises are important: its 4K image is pixel-shifted rather than native 4K, and it cannot project 4K at 120Hz. Room geometry also matters more than the short throw ratio might suggest.
What is the Hisense PX4-PRO?
The PX4-PRO is a fixed-focus-class, RGB triple-laser UST projector. Hisense advertises an image range of 80 to 200 inches and a 0.20:1 throw ratio, meaning it can sit close to the projection surface. Those figures do not guarantee that every size will fit every room: the image’s height and width, the projector’s position, and the screen dimensions must all work together. Hisense’s US product information lists the advertised range and placement details at its PX4-PRO product page.

Although marketed as 4K, the image is pixel-shifted 4K, not produced by a native 4K imaging chip, according to RTINGS’ tested review and What Hi-Fi?’s review. That distinction matters most if native 4K imaging is a firm requirement; it does not, by itself, determine how good the picture will look in a given room.

It is a compelling option to investigate if you value a large UST image, flexible gaming modes, and integrated smart and audio features more than native 4K or 4K/120Hz output. RTINGS tested a purchased unit and describes gaming responsiveness as a strength, while noting that competitors can do better in some brightness, contrast, or color comparisons. It also reports improved input lag and contrast versus the PX3-PRO. These are review findings, not a guarantee of performance in every installation.

Hisense announced a US MSRP of $3,999.99 on July 21, 2026; What Hi-Fi? reported launch prices of $3,999 in the US, £2,499 in the UK, and AU$4,499 in Australia. The US MSRP is not a current street-price quote, and retailer price or stock can change. Check the applicable market and current listings before deciding whether the feature mix justifies the price. How good is the picture?
Hisense rates the PX4-PRO at 3,500 ANSI lumens and claims 118% BT.2020 color-space coverage and a 6,500:1 contrast ratio using a seven-step iris. These are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements. Projector Reviews also describes the iris and the claimed contrast figure; RTINGS updated its brightness and effective-contrast sections on August 17, 2026, after changing its tested iris setting from 2 to 1. That update is a reminder that iris settings affect review measurements and that a claimed specification should not be read as a promise of identical results in every mode or room. Projector Reviews reports favorable impressions of dark-scene contrast and reduced cooling noise in its review. Treat those as that reviewer’s observations, rather than universal outcomes: room conditions, picture settings, screen, and viewing preferences all affect the experience. Hisense also promotes Dolby Vision and other premium formats; independent reviews identify support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. Format support does not establish how bright or impactful every HDR title will look at a particular screen size.
Does the PX4-PRO support 4K 120Hz?
No: it supports 4K projection at up to 60Hz, not 4K/120Hz output. RTINGS reports that it accepts a downscaled 4K/120Hz input signal, but that is not the same as projecting 4K at 120Hz. For higher refresh rates, the supported mode is up to 1080p at 240Hz. RTINGS reports VRR support, and What Hi-Fi? reports ALLM and VRR gaming features. Sources: RTINGS and What Hi-Fi?.

RTINGS lists two HDMI 2.1 inputs and two HDMI 2.0 inputs, with eARC on one of the HDMI 2.0 ports. What Hi-Fi? also reports four HDMI inputs. HDMI 2.1 branding should not be taken to mean 4K/120Hz projection; check which port you will use for eARC and which features your source device needs.
Will it fit your room and screen?
The 0.20:1 throw ratio permits close placement, but it does not remove the need to plan the image’s geometry. Measure the usable screen width and height, the intended image size and aspect ratio, and the available space for the projector before buying. Use Hisense’s placement chart for the target size, then confirm that the image lands where the screen is mounted. Keystone correction should not be treated as a replacement for a correct physical fit.

- Choose the target screen size and aspect ratio, then confirm that the screen can fit the wall.
- Consult the manufacturer’s placement information for the chosen size and mark the projector’s required position.
- Check the projected image’s vertical position against the screen and the room’s ceiling, furniture, and other obstructions.
- If considering a UST-specific screen, verify its size, material, and compatibility for your installation; a suitable wall may also work, so a dedicated screen is not automatically required.
A retailer customer described trouble fitting a 150-inch image in a basement with an approximately 93-inch ceiling, including blank areas that keystone controls did not solve. This is one customer’s account, not a general test result, but it illustrates why a large advertised maximum is not a substitute for measuring. The placement chart and customer report appear on Hisense’s product page.

What are the smart TV and audio features?
The PX4-PRO runs VIDAA, not Google TV. Its app selection varies by market and may change, so verify that the services you rely on are in the local VIDAA catalog before buying. What Hi-Fi? notes that some specialist apps were absent in its market; that does not establish availability in every country. Sources: RTINGS and What Hi-Fi?.

Projector Reviews describes a 66-watt, 4.0.2-channel Devialet-tuned system with six drivers and two up-firing speakers, and reports a positive subjective impression of its sound. Built-in audio is useful when you want a simpler setup, but it is not equivalent to a dedicated external system. If stronger bass or a separate surround setup is a priority, plan for external audio and check the HDMI eARC connection requirements. Hisense promotes Dolby Atmos; Projector Reviews also reports DTS:X capability. Source: Projector Reviews.
Quick Recap
Who should consider it—and who should look elsewhere?
- Consider it if you want a close-placement projector for a big image, play at 1080p with high refresh rates, and appreciate integrated VIDAA and audio features.
- Look elsewhere if native 4K imaging or 4K/120Hz projection is essential.
- Measure first if you plan to use a very large screen, have a low ceiling, or have limited control over projector placement.
- Check before committing if your setup depends on particular streaming apps, an eARC connection, or a specific screen material.
