Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo change your Hinge location, edit Location in your profile or choose My Neighborhood in Discover preferences. Hinge does not update this profile field automatically when you travel or move, so you need to set it yourself.
Change your location in the profile editor
- Tap the Photo icon in the navigation bar.
- Tap the Pencil icon beside your profile photo.
- Under My Vitals, tap Location.
- Choose a place with the compass, search field, or map.
- Go back to save the change.
These steps follow Hinge’s Location Settings guide. Hinge’s profile-editing instructions also describe the pencil, location field, compass, map, and search controls.

Choose a location with the compass, search, or map
- Compass: Tap it to use your device’s current location. Hinge may ask for location permission.
- Search: Enter a city, neighborhood, address, or ZIP or postal code.
- Map: Pinch to zoom or reposition the map pin to select the area you want.
Change your location from Discover
- Open the sliders icon to go to Preferences.
- Tap My Neighborhood.
- Choose a place with the compass, map, or search bar.
Hinge documents this as another way to select a location; it is separate from editing the Location field in your profile.
Choose how specific your displayed location is
Hinge says location names come from Google Maps. Search for a neighborhood or zoom in to choose a more specific area; search for a broader place or zoom out for a less specific one. According to Hinge, a manually selected location displays the chosen neighborhood name, not the exact address. Hinge also notes that some neighborhood names may be outdated.

Location, hometown, and distance are different settings
Location is where you are now
The profile’s Location field represents where you are now. Hinge says it does not automatically update this field each time you log in, so set it manually after a move or when you want to show a destination during a trip.
Hometown is where you are from
Hometown is a separate profile field for where you are from. Changing Location does not change Hometown.

Maximum Distance controls a search radius
Maximum Distance sets the radius for nearby profiles. You can mark the setting as a dealbreaker to limit who you see to people within that distance. Hinge says the radius is radial distance, not travel time, so it does not account for how long a journey would take.

Before changing location for a trip
Hinge allows you to set your in-app location to a place you plan to visit. That setting does not guarantee that Hinge can be downloaded or accessed in the destination country. Check Hinge’s Location Settings guidance and destination availability before relying on the app while traveling.
