The best documented everyday-value offer is the 13-inch MacBook Air M5 with 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage, reported at Amazon for $1,099 on October 6, 2026. That is $200 below its current $1,299 US list price, though it is not a record low. If your work calls for a Pro, a 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 with 16GB and 1TB was reported at $1,839. Macworld reports that Apple raised MacBook Air prices by $200 in June 2026. The Associated Press reported that Apple attributed increases across Mac and iPad to component price surges. In a statement quoted by AP, Apple said: “we have now reached a point where we need to begin raising prices on a number of products, including today’s increases for iPad and Mac. We know this is not welcome news, and we are working tirelessly to find solutions.” AP attributes the statement to Apple, not to a named individual.
If your current computer meets your needs, a discount alone is not a reason to replace it. But if you have decided to buy, the reported Air offer is meaningfully below current list price; compare the live configuration and seller before checking out.

Air, Pro, Neo or refurbished: which route fits?
Choose the Air for everyday work
Macworld’s buying guidance positions the Air as the better-value fit for browsing, office work, studying and light creative tasks. The 13-inch M5 Air deal is the broadest-value pick here; consider the 15-inch option if you prefer its larger screen and the live price suits your budget.
Pay for a Pro when the workload warrants it
Macworld describes the Pro as aimed at creative professionals, software developers, engineers and other power users who need sustained performance, a premium display, more ports or higher memory configurations. The reported 14-inch M5 Pro 16GB/1TB price of $1,839 is $160 below its $1,999 current MSRP. The more capable label or discount does not by itself make it the right choice for everyday tasks.

Consider Neo for the lowest entry price
Apple lists MacBook Neo from $699 in the US. The reported $689 Amazon price for the A18 Pro, 256GB model is only $10 below that starting price, and its cited historical low is $589.99. It is a lower-cost entry point, but not a major discount at the reported price.
