Hero V09 is a free introduction section designed for a freelance designer’s portfolio. Colorlib describes it as plain HTML and CSS that can be used on its own or inside Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects; it does not require Bootstrap files or JavaScript. Does Hero V09 need Bootstrap?
No. Colorlib characterizes the download as plain HTML and CSS, with no JavaScript, Bootstrap files, or plugins required. The same listing says it can be used standalone or placed in Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects. In other words, “Bootstrap hero section” describes where it can fit, not a requirement to load Bootstrap to use it.

Colorlib reports a 468 KB download; that is the publisher’s stated file size, not an independently measured figure. Check the downloaded files and their markup before integrating them into a project, especially if you need to match an existing CSS setup.
How it behaves on phones and with reduced motion
Colorlib says the portrait moves above the text on phones, changing the desktop-style introduction into a vertically stacked layout. The listing also says the pulsing availability dot stops when a visitor has enabled a reduced-motion preference. These are publisher-described behaviors, not independently tested here. If either behavior is important to your site, verify it in the actual download at your target screen sizes and with reduced motion enabled.
How to decide whether it fits your site
Bootstrap hero sections can serve different purposes: centered copy and buttons, a split text-and-image layout, a signup form, or an image-led background. The official Bootstrap 5.1.0 examples show several of these arrangements, while BootstrapPlanet’s June 10, 2026 explainer covers centered, gradient, split, background-image, and minimal patterns using Bootstrap 5.3.3 examples. Those references illustrate alternatives; they do not establish that Hero V09 uses the same layout or that those versions describe every current Bootstrap release. For a portfolio, Hero V09’s portrait, bio, email link, and CV link put the person and contact route at the center. Choose a different pattern if the first screen must prioritize a form, product screenshot, or broad campaign message. Colorlib’s September 28, 2026 roundup notes that Bootstrap 5 no longer includes the jumbotron component; a hero can instead be assembled from ordinary markup and utility classes. Colorlib’s Hero V09 listing identifies the template as licensed under CC BY 3.0. Colorlib’s 2026 roundup says its hero downloads may be used in personal and commercial projects under that license if the credit link is retained.
