These 20 Squarespace church websites offer layout and content ideas for church leaders, communications volunteers, and web designers. They are curated examples—not a ranked list: the collections behind them do not use a shared scoring method, and a site’s design or platform attribution can change.

What to look for in a church website
Use these sites as layout ideas, then judge a design by whether it helps people find what they need—not by visual taste alone.

One-click scans. No signup required.
- First-visit clarity: Can a newcomer quickly locate service times, addresses, parking information, children’s details, and a way to plan a visit?
- Navigation and language: Are the main pages easy to scan? Replace unexplained insider terms with plain language; a church website planning checklist puts it simply: “Substitute plain language for ‘church speak.’”
- Useful content: Are events, ministries, sermons, contact details, and next steps easy to find when relevant?
- Visual identity: Do photography, color, typography, and layout reflect the congregation while keeping important actions visible?
- Maintainability: Is someone clearly responsible for updates, and can more than one person manage the site?
The same checklist recommends 4–7 top-level menu items, beginning with essential pages and adding more only as needed, keeping each piece of information in one place, and using specific calls to action. It also recommends that at least two people, plus the parish office, have access and training to manage the site. These are practical recommendations from that checklist, not universal requirements.

What Squarespace says churches can build
Squarespace’s official church templates page describes customizable templates and content blocks for event calendars, sermon archives, donations and tithing, ministry highlights, and volunteer sign-up forms. It also says the platform can integrate with email marketing, social media, live-streaming, and video-hosting services. These are platform capabilities; they do not establish that every example above uses those features.
How to turn an example into a useful plan
- Start with visitor questions. Write down what a first-time attendee needs to know before arriving, then make those answers prominent.
- Choose the minimum set of pages. Organize essential information first; add sections only when someone will keep them accurate.
- Make each action explicit. Use direct labels for tasks such as planning a visit, finding a service, viewing a sermon, or contacting the church.
- Assign ongoing ownership. Decide who updates the calendar, service information, and other changing details, and make sure trained backups can access the site.
- Review the site as a newcomer. Try to find the address, service time, parking and children’s information, and a contact route without relying on insider knowledge.
These examples are useful for inspiration, but the collections do not establish that a particular design increases attendance, donations, or engagement. Treat platform attribution and live-site details as changeable when using any example as a reference.
