You can then decide whether to answer or block it; the warning is a prompt to verify, not a guarantee that a call is safe or fraudulent. Availability and behavior depend on the phone, software, region, and language.
What Samsung Scam Detection does
On supported devices, the Phone app can alert you during a call if it detects a potential scam. Samsung’s U.S. support guide says you can choose to block the call or answer it, and adjust the alert tone and vibration. It does not establish that the feature catches every scam.

There are distinct implementations behind the similar descriptions. Google announced an on-device Gemini Scam Detection feature in the Samsung Phone app for Galaxy S26 devices, initially in English in the United States. Samsung’s U.S. support guide describes a built-in feature for phones running Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher. Samsung’s September 2026 One UI 9 announcement named Japan, Canada, and India for expansion and said support depends on region, language, model, and software. These descriptions should not be treated as proof that every Galaxy phone in those markets has the same implementation.

How to find and enable it
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More options, then Settings.
- Tap Scam detection and check the switch. Turn it on or off as you prefer.
Samsung says the setting is on by default for the configuration covered by its U.S. guide. Google’s February 2026 description of its broader Scam Detection rollout says that feature is off by default. Because the documented defaults differ by device and software, check the setting on your own phone rather than assuming it is enabled.

What the Galaxy S26 implementation says about privacy
For the Galaxy S26 rollout, Google says analysis happens entirely on the phone and call audio is processed ephemerally. Google says neither conversation audio nor its transcription is recorded, stored on the device, or sent to Google or third parties. It also says calls with people in your contacts are automatically excluded from detection. These are Google’s claims about its Galaxy S26 implementation, not a blanket description of every Samsung call-filtering or messaging feature. Do not confuse it with Samsung’s Korean voice-phishing alert
Samsung described a separate voice-phishing detection feature for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 in South Korea in August 2025. It analyzes calls from unknown numbers on-device and can issue two escalating warning levels. Samsung said it intended to extend that feature to phones with One UI 8 or later. Its market, rollout timing, and implementation description differ from Google’s Galaxy S26 feature in the Samsung Phone app.
Samsung said the Korean feature’s training used about 30,000 voice-phishing samples from 2024 supplied by the Korean National Police Agency and National Forensic Service. That is a training-data figure, not a measure of how accurately the feature detects scams. Samsung’s Korean announcement also cites about 12,000 voice-phishing cases and roughly KRW 640 billion in losses during the first half of 2025, attributing those figures to the Korean National Police Agency.

What a warning can—and cannot—tell you
The reviewed official descriptions do not provide a measured detection rate, false-positive rate, independent effectiveness trial, or guarantee for the Galaxy S26 Scam Detection implementation. Treat an alert as a reason to pause and verify the caller through a trusted channel, especially before sharing sensitive information or taking urgent action.
Samsung separately reported that its “Intelligence-based blocking” feature had blocked more than 100 million malicious spam messages through July 2025. That is a spam-filtering tally, not evidence of Scam Detection’s call-warning accuracy or effectiveness.
