Guild Adventures at a glance
Guild Adventures is a CurseForge modpack by cleannrooster for players who want an action RPG rather than a lightly modified survival experience. The pack combines custom classes, tuned melee and ranged combat, quests, bosses, exploration, magic, and an optimized Distant Horizons configuration. Its combat and progression are explicitly inspired by games such as Diablo, Path of Exile, and Minecraft Dungeons.
The normal interface uses a custom pseudo-isometric or top-down camera. Press F4 to return to Minecraft’s conventional first- or third-person view.

| Item | Current value | What it means for setup |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft version | 1.21.1 | Use this version in the launcher and server files. |
| Mod loader | Fabric | Do not substitute Forge or NeoForge. |
| Listed pack release | v2.7.2 (September 23, 2026) | Use the same release on every client and the server. |
| Dedicated-server archive | serverpack_ga_2.7.2.zip |
Extract this archive into a clean server directory. |
| Fabric loader reported for v2.7.2 | 0.19.3 | Useful when diagnosing a loader mismatch. |
| Mods in v2.7.2 | 392 | Expect a substantial install and longer first startup than vanilla. |
| Published server memory guidance | 6 GB | A starting point from the pack author, not a guaranteed player-count benchmark. |
| Displayed project downloads | 144,552 (CurseForge figure shown in 2026) | A popularity count, not a performance or compatibility guarantee. |
Because the pack contains hundreds of mods, a “mostly similar” installation is not sufficient. A client can have the right Minecraft version and still fail to connect if even one required mod, loader version, or pack release differs.
What you need before installing
- A legally installed Minecraft Java Edition account and launcher.
- A computer capable of running Minecraft 1.21.1 with a large Fabric pack. Leave additional disk space for the instance, libraries, logs, and world data.
- Java 21 for the dedicated server. Fabric recommends Java 21 for Minecraft 1.20.5 and newer.
- The Guild Adventures v2.7.2 client pack for each player.
serverpack_ga_2.7.2.zipif you are running your own server.- Permission to open a listening port on the host machine, or a managed host that handles networking for you.
Keep the client and server archives available even after installation. They make it easier to rebuild the instance after a failed update or a corrupted configuration.

Install Guild Adventures on a client
Option 1: Install from a modpack launcher
- Create a new instance for Minecraft 1.21.1 and select Fabric as the loader.
- Choose the Guild Adventures project and select release v2.7.2. Do not let the launcher silently choose a different Minecraft or modpack version.
- Allow the launcher to download the listed mods and dependencies. With 392 mods reported for v2.7.2, the download and extraction can take considerably longer than a small mod list.
- Launch the instance once without joining a server. Wait for the main menu, then create or load a test world long enough to confirm that the custom camera, classes, and other pack content appear.
- Close the game normally. This first run creates configuration files and makes later connection errors easier to distinguish from an incomplete installation.
Option 2: GDLauncher quick installation
GDLauncher documents a flow that starts with a Fabric instance, asks you to choose a supported Minecraft version, and then installs an addon from its Addons area. In that launcher, use the quick-install identifier #guild-adventures, select Minecraft 1.21.1, and verify that the resulting release is v2.7.2 before launching.
Launcher labels can change, so the important checks are the resulting game version, Fabric loader, and pack release—not the name of a particular button.
Confirm the local installation
- The launcher profile says Minecraft 1.21.1.
- The profile uses Fabric, not Forge or NeoForge.
- The installed pack is Guild Adventures v2.7.2.
- The game reaches the title screen without a missing-mod or loader error.
- A test world opens and responds to the pack’s controls; F4 should switch back to the normal camera view.
Build a dedicated Guild Adventures server
The dedicated-server archive is the safest way to reproduce the pack’s server-side files. Use a new directory rather than dropping the files into an existing vanilla or unrelated modded server.

1. Prepare Java 21 and the server directory
- Install a 64-bit Java 21 runtime on the computer or host that will run the server.
- Make a directory used only for this server, such as
guild-adventures-server. - Check the active runtime with
java -version. The output should identify Java 21. If it reports an older Java installation, correct the system path or use the full path to the Java 21 executable.
Fabric’s server documentation recommends Java 21 for Minecraft 1.20.5 and later. A server may fail before loading any mods when it is started with an unsupported Java version, so verify this before changing memory settings.

2. Install the Fabric server launcher
Download or install the Fabric server launcher for Minecraft 1.21.1, then place its executable JAR in the new server directory. Fabric describes this launcher as an executable JAR that downloads missing Fabric Loader and Minecraft files before starting the game server.
A minimal launch command is:
java -Xmx2G -jar fabric-server-launcher.jar nogui
Replace fabric-server-launcher.jar with the actual filename you downloaded. The 2 GB value is the simple Fabric example, not the pack author’s recommendation for Guild Adventures; after the files are installed, allocate memory according to the section below.
3. Extract the Guild Adventures server pack
- Stop any process using the directory.
- Extract
serverpack_ga_2.7.2.zipdirectly into the dedicated server directory. - Preserve the archive’s folder structure. Do not place the entire ZIP inside another nested folder if the launcher expects files at the directory root.
- Allow existing files from the pack to replace generic files only in this clean directory. Do not merge it blindly with another modpack.
The archive is marked for Minecraft 1.21.1 and Fabric. Keep its included mods and configuration together; removing a client or server file to “make it lighter” can create a connection mismatch.
4. Perform the first start and accept the EULA
- Start the server once with Java 21.
- Wait for the process to stop or report that the EULA must be accepted.
- Open
eula.txt, change the agreement line toeula=trueonly if you accept Minecraft’s EULA, save the file, and close it. - Start the server again and wait for a message indicating that it is ready for connections.
- Stop it with the console’s clean shutdown command rather than closing the terminal window. This lets the server flush chunks and player data.
5. Configure the world and access rules
Open server.properties while the server is stopped. Review the values that affect your group:

- Whitelist: enable it if only invited players should join, then add names from the console with
whitelist add PlayerName. - View distance and simulation distance: start conservatively, then increase them only if CPU, memory, and network capacity remain comfortable. No published Guild Adventures benchmark establishes a universally safe value.
- Server port: keep the default unless another service already uses it. If you change it, players must include the new port when connecting.
- Online mode and authentication: leave the normal authenticated configuration unless you understand the security consequences of changing it.
Back up the world directory before changing generation, distance, or gameplay settings. A settings change can expose performance problems without being the underlying cause of a mod error.
6. Open the server to friends
For players on the same home network, provide the host computer’s local address. For internet play, allow the server’s Java process through the operating system firewall and forward the configured TCP port from the router to the host computer’s local address. The host needs a stable local address so a router rule does not point to the wrong machine after a reboot.
Minecraft’s official server guidance notes that Java servers require a compatible Java runtime and may need firewall or network configuration. Do not publish your home network address more widely than necessary, and disable the port-forwarding rule when the server is no longer needed.
7. Test with one player first
- Start the server and wait for the ready message.
- Have one player connect using the host address and port.
- Check that the player can enter the world, select or use the pack’s content, and move through an area without immediate crashes.
- Review the console and
logs/latest.logfor warnings before inviting the rest of the group.
A single successful connection does not prove that every client is identical, but it confirms that the server completed startup and that the network path works.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteHow much RAM does a Guild Adventures server need?
The pack’s published server guidance is 6 GB of RAM. Treat that as a baseline starting requirement rather than a promise of a fixed player count or a guarantee at a particular view distance. The available project information does not publish controlled results by number of players, CPU model, view distance, simulation distance, or world age.

- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Use the server process’s actual behavior to tune the allocation:
- Set the maximum heap high enough for the pack and your group, but leave RAM for the operating system, Java’s non-heap usage, file caching, and any other services on the machine.
- Watch the console, operating-system memory use, and garbage-collection pauses during exploration and when several players load new terrain.
- If the process repeatedly approaches its heap limit, stop the server, make a backup, and increase the allocation only when the machine has headroom.
- If the host begins swapping or the entire system becomes unresponsive, reduce other workloads or move the server to a machine with more physical memory; simply adding a larger maximum heap cannot fix a host that is already out of RAM.
For a dedicated machine, you can begin by adapting the Fabric command to the author’s 6 GB guidance, for example:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →java -Xmx6G -jar fabric-server-launcher.jar nogui
This sets only the maximum heap. It is not a measured optimum, and it does not account for the rest of the host. Keep a record of the previous value so you can roll back if startup becomes slower or the operating system runs short of memory.
Client and server versions must match
Every player should use the same combination of:
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- Fabric loader (the v2.7.2 listing is reported with Fabric 0.19.3)
- Guild Adventures v2.7.2
- Mod files and configuration supplied by that release
Do not update one client to a newer pack release while the server remains on v2.7.2. If the server archive is from one release and the clients are imported from another, connection errors can appear as missing, extra, or incompatible mods. When a separate server file is used, matching the exact pack release is particularly important.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Self-hosting or managed hosting?
Both approaches can run Guild Adventures. The right choice depends on whether you value control or convenience more than a recurring hosting bill.
Best Value
| Factor | Self-hosted computer | Managed Minecraft host |
|---|---|---|
| Setup effort | Install Java, Fabric, the server pack, updates, backups, firewall rules, and port forwarding yourself. | Usually provides a control panel and a guided or one-click deployment flow. |
| Recurring cost | No hosting subscription, although electricity, hardware, and internet costs still apply. | Monthly or other recurring charges; current pricing varies by plan and date. |
| File and configuration control | Full access to files, logs, scripts, world backups, and server settings. | Access depends on the provider’s panel, file manager, mod support, and policies. |
| Uptime | The host computer must remain powered, connected, and maintained. | Designed for persistent availability, subject to the provider’s hardware and support terms. |
| Troubleshooting | You diagnose Java, Fabric, networking, and mod errors directly. | The provider may handle deployment or infrastructure issues, but mod-specific support varies. |
When self-hosting makes sense
- You already have a computer that can dedicate memory and remain online.
- You want unrestricted access to configuration files and world backups.
- You are comfortable with Java versions, firewall rules, and reading logs.
When managed hosting makes sense
- You want an always-on world without leaving a home computer running.
- Your internet connection is behind restrictive carrier-grade NAT or you cannot configure port forwarding.
- Your group prefers a control panel over command-line administration.
BoxToPlay lists Guild Adventures versions and describes one-click installation after a version is selected. MintServers advertises automated deployment using the current CurseForge release with Fabric and Minecraft settings configured. Availability, hardware allocation, backups, support quality, prices, and any commercial relationship can change, so verify those details on the provider’s current service page before paying.
Troubleshoot startup and connection failures
The server exits immediately
- Run
java -versionand confirm Java 21 is the runtime actually launching the process. - Read the first loader or mod error in the console and
logs/latest.log. The earliest error is usually more useful than the final cascade of failures. - Confirm that the server directory contains the extracted v2.7.2 server pack and that the Fabric launcher targets Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Only after those checks, review the memory allocation and available disk space.
Do not delete the world or randomly remove mods to make an unexplained startup error disappear. Those actions can destroy useful evidence and create a second problem.
A player is rejected for a mod or version mismatch
- Check the player’s launcher profile for Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Confirm Fabric is selected and not Forge or NeoForge.
- Compare the exact Guild Adventures release with the server; both should be v2.7.2 unless you intentionally upgraded both sides.
- Reinstall the pack from the same release if files were manually added or removed.
The server is reachable but lags during exploration
- Check whether memory is actually exhausted or whether one CPU core is saturated.
- Reduce view or simulation distance in
server.propertiesand restart cleanly. - Test with one player and then add players gradually, noting when new terrain generation causes the problem.
- Keep backups before changing world or pack versions; a new release should never be assumed to be safe for an existing world.
Friends cannot connect from outside the home
- Verify the server is listening on the configured port.
- Allow Java through the host firewall.
- Confirm router port forwarding points to the host’s current local address.
- Check whether the internet service uses carrier-grade NAT, which can prevent inbound connections even when local firewall rules are correct.
- Have players use the public address and the correct port, while keeping private administrative details out of public chat.
Updating Guild Adventures safely
- Announce a maintenance window and stop the server cleanly.
- Copy the complete world directory, server configuration, and any scripts to a separate backup location.
- Record the current Minecraft, Fabric, and Guild Adventures versions.
- Install the new client and server release in a test directory rather than overwriting the only working installation.
- Test startup and a copy of the world with one player.
- Only then migrate the live server, and require every player to update to the identical release.
Never assume that a new modpack release is world-safe simply because it launches. A backup lets you return to the previous server and world if terrain, quests, or player data behave unexpectedly.
Practical launch checklist
- ☐ Minecraft 1.21.1 is selected everywhere.
- ☐ Fabric is selected everywhere; Forge and NeoForge are not used.
- ☐ Clients and server use Guild Adventures v2.7.2.
- ☐ The server uses Java 21.
- ☐
serverpack_ga_2.7.2.zipwas extracted into a clean directory. - ☐ EULA acceptance was completed and the server reached a ready state.
- ☐ Whitelist, view distance, simulation distance, and port settings were reviewed.
- ☐ Firewall and router rules were tested from outside the host network if internet play is required.
- ☐ A world backup exists before inviting the full group or changing versions.
- ☐ The initial RAM allocation follows the author’s 6 GB guidance while leaving enough memory for the host operating system.
The Bottom Line
For the current release, install Guild Adventures v2.7.2 on Minecraft 1.21.1 with Fabric, run the dedicated server with Java 21, and start from the author’s 6 GB server-memory guidance. Self-hosting gives maximum control; managed hosting removes much of the networking and maintenance work. Whichever route you choose, keep the client and server release identical and back up the world before every update.
