Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is set in the fictional state of Leonida, with Vice City and five other named destinations. But the complete map, its size and boundaries, and how exploration works in-game have not been officially detailed. Since the game is not yet released as of October 4, 2026, there are no verified routes or hands-on exploration tips to give.
What does the GTA 6 map look like?
Rockstar frames the setting as a state-wide world: its official description calls Leonida “Home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond.” The company has also invited players to “Explore Vice City and beyond.” Those descriptions establish a city and a wider setting, but they are not a published map. Rockstar’s Only in Leonida page and its Trailer 2 announcement link official media that can show the environments. A scene in a trailer, however, does not confirm where a place sits on the map, how large it is, or how it connects to another area.

The names are confirmed; their exact relative positions and the full list of locations are not. Rockstar describes the destinations as part of the “sunshine state,” but the page does not provide a complete map or explain the geography between them. How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has not published a verified area, scale, or dimensions for the GTA 6 map in the official material reviewed. Fan calculations, leaked-map claims, and estimates based on trailer footage should not be treated as confirmed measurements. Without an official scale or complete map, there is no reliable basis here for comparing Leonida’s size with another game world.
How do you explore the map?
There are no verified gameplay directions to follow before release. Rockstar’s destination page introduces places and characters; it does not document navigation, map markers, collectibles, hidden areas, fast travel, or unlock conditions. Trailer footage can help orient you to the setting’s visible atmosphere, but it cannot establish tested routes or exploration mechanics.

For a source-based overview now, use Rockstar’s named destinations as the confirmed guideposts and distinguish them from community interpretations. A fan-made map may be useful as a theory or visualization, but it is not canonical unless Rockstar confirms its details.

Rockstar currently lists Grand Theft Auto VI for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar announced that date on November 6, 2025, explaining that the additional time would allow the studio to finish the game to its expected level of polish. The official GTA VI page and Rockstar Store listing show the current date and platforms. The sources reviewed do not establish differences in map content or exploration between the two consoles.
