Grand Theft Auto VI is set across Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, with Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos at the center of its story. Rockstar has named several distinct destinations, and official images show a handful of scenes that invite questions about what players might encounter. Those places and images offer nine grounded reasons to look around—but they do not confirm a list of activities or promise how long any one will take.

What can you explore in GTA 6?

Rockstar’s official setting page names Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga. Its character descriptions add context involving music, nightlife, smuggling, and local crime. Together, these details establish a varied setting and story backdrop; they do not establish map size, a count of activities, or how freely every location can be explored.

PlayStation’s official product page depicts a seaplane over the Keys, hunting in woodland, a boat in a swampy area, and Lucia at a punching bag. These are useful clues to the kinds of scenes represented in promotional images, not confirmation that each is a repeatable or player-controlled activity.

Where is GTA 6 set, and what makes each place worth watching?

1. Vice City’s neon city atmosphere

Vice City is the central named destination in Rockstar’s description of Leonida. Its place in the game makes the city’s atmosphere and character-led scenes a natural point of interest. Rockstar has not confirmed specific neighborhoods or systems for exploring them, so treat those details as something to discover rather than established features.

2. The Leonida Keys and coastal scenery

Jason’s backstory is connected to the Keys, and an official PlayStation image shows a seaplane above the region. That supports a coastal exploration angle: the Keys are both a named setting and part of the story’s context. The image does not confirm that players can pilot the plane, or how aircraft would work.

3. Grassrivers’ wetlands

Grassrivers is a named Leonida region, while PlayStation’s images include a boat in a swampy landscape. Together, those details point to a water-and-wetland setting distinct from the city and coast. They do not confirm boating mechanics, wildlife variety, or dynamic weather.

  • Includes Grand Theft Auto Online, the ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe.
  • All new content and gameplay created and released since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online including new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations

4. Port Gellhorn

Port Gellhorn appears among Rockstar’s named destinations, making it a distinct place to keep an eye on as the story moves through the state. The official description reviewed here does not specify its activities, layout, or scale; its role beyond being a named setting remains to be seen.

5. Ambrosia

Ambrosia is another named destination, giving Leonida a further setting beyond Vice City and the other highlighted regions. Its name alone is not evidence of a particular industry, mission type, or map design, so the grounded reason to be curious is simply that it is part of the game’s stated geography.

Grand Theft Auto VI - Xbox Series X|S (Code in Box, Delivers 11/12/26, Playable 11/19/26)
  • This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19.
  • Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
  • Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.

6. Mount Kalaga and the woodland

Rockstar names Mount Kalaga, and a PlayStation image depicts hunting in woodland. Those details support a nature-focused possibility, but they do not establish that the image shows Mount Kalaga, that hunting is a playable system, or that the area is a national park. The distinction matters: a promotional scene can suggest an atmosphere without confirming a mechanic.

How might the story and characters shape exploration?

7. Jason and Lucia’s shared criminal story

Jason and Lucia are the story’s central characters. Rockstar describes them as relying on one another amid a conspiracy across Leonida, and its official game page says, “Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them.” Exploring the named locations may reveal how the couple’s story connects to different parts of the state. That premise does not confirm co-op play or unrestricted character switching.

Rank #4
Rockstar Games Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition (PS4)
  • Grand Theft Auto III: It all starts in Liberty City
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: Welcome to the 1980s
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Five years ago, Carl 'CJ' Johnson escaped the haze of Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs, and corruption.

8. Everyday scenes and character-led places

Rockstar’s supporting-character descriptions bring music, nightlife, local business, and smuggling into the setting’s social texture. These contexts can make a place feel tied to people and local activity, rather than only to the central plot. They are not proof that businesses are fully interactive or that every described activity is available to players.

What activities are in GTA 6? What is confirmed about gameplay?

The official material establishes locations, story context, and a few scenes shown in images; it does not publish a definitive activity list. The safest way to read a trailer or screenshot is to separate what it visibly depicts from what it proves about gameplay:

  • Shown in official imagery: a seaplane over the Keys, a boat in a swampy region, woodland hunting, and Lucia at a punching bag.
  • Not established by those images alone: whether these scenes are repeatable activities, freely accessible systems, or sequences controlled by the player.
  • Not established in the reviewed official descriptions: map dimensions, activity counts, wildlife counts, or particular weather systems.

How could GTA 6 feel different on PS5?

PlayStation describes PS5 support for Tempest 3D Audio, faster loading through the PS5 SSD, DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, plus sound effects through the controller speaker. These features could add sensory texture to exploring Leonida, but Sony’s details are specific to PS5 and should not be assumed to describe the Xbox Series X|S version. PlayStation lists the game for PS5 and PS5 Pro.

When does GTA 6 release, and what should buyers know?

Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with a November 19, 2026 launch date. It listed the Standard Edition at $79.99 and Ultimate Edition at $99.99 at announcement; prices and offers can change, so check current retailer details before buying. Rockstar Support says the boxed physical retail version contains a download code, not a disc, and notes that some redemption codes have region restrictions.

Rockstar has also announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album with 34 original tracks and promoted The Vice City Collection as a limited-edition collectible set. The announcement does not establish physical album formats or the collection’s complete contents; check Rockstar’s official listings for current availability and details.
