GS Engineering & Construction Corporation reported positive net income of KRW 2.566 billion for the second quarter of 2026, compared with a net loss a year earlier. That does not mean its operating results improved: separate reporting put Q2 consolidated revenue and operating profit below their year-earlier levels. The company is GS E&C (KRX: 006360), not Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS).
What does “profitable” mean in GS E&C’s Q2 report?
It refers to net income: a summary attributed to S&P Capital IQ and carried by MarketScreener lists KRW 2,566 million in net income for Q2 2026, versus a KRW 62,722 million net loss for Q2 2025. Those amounts are KRW 2.566 billion and KRW 62.722 billion, respectively. The comparison shows a swing from a reported loss to a small positive net result; it does not, by itself, show that revenue or operating profit increased.

| Measure | Q2 2026 | Year-earlier comparison | Source and scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net income | KRW 2,566 million (KRW 2.566 billion) | Q2 2025 net loss of KRW 62,722 million (KRW 62.722 billion) | S&P Capital IQ summary carried by MarketScreener |
| Sales | KRW 372,830 million | Not stated in the summary | S&P Capital IQ summary carried by MarketScreener; scope is not explained |
| Consolidated revenue | KRW 2.7799 trillion | Down 13.0% year over year | The Asia Business Daily |
| Operating profit | KRW 91.4 billion | Down 43.6% year over year | The Asia Business Daily |
The KRW 372.83 billion sales entry and KRW 2.7799 trillion consolidated-revenue figure differ substantially. The available sources do not explain their scope or accounting presentation well enough to reconcile them, so they should not be treated as interchangeable or combined into a single revenue figure.

The company’s official English earnings-release landing page did not expose quarter-specific Q2 2026 figures in the material available. Its English investor-relations presentation listing showed a 1Q26 presentation dated May 15 and a 2Q25 presentation dated August 13, but no Q2 2026 presentation in the listing. A Korean regulatory quarterly report dated May 14, 2026 is for the first quarter, not the second, and therefore does not establish Q2 results.

How should investors read the result?
- Separate net income from operating performance. The net-income summary reports a positive result, while the separate report says consolidated revenue and operating profit declined year over year.
- Keep each metric tied to its source and scope. The sales entry and consolidated-revenue figure are not reconciled in the available reporting.
- Check the comparison period. The reported net-income comparison is Q2 2026 against Q2 2025; the revenue and operating-profit percentages are also described as year-over-year changes.
