Choose Grok Bot if you want several persistent agents to divide work and run saved routines; choose ChatGPT Dots if you want an ongoing agent inside ChatGPT to carry tasks forward between conversations. Their subscription prices and included usage are not directly comparable: Grok Bot access comes through eligible plans, while the first Dot is included with eligible ChatGPT plans.

How Grok Bot and ChatGPT Dots work

Both are designed to continue work beyond a single chat. Their companies describe persistent agents that can work between user interactions, but they organize that work differently. The capabilities below are vendor descriptions, not independently verified performance results.

Grok Bot: several agents, shared computer

xAI presents Grok Bot as a team of Bots. You can assign jobs to multiple Bots, have them work in parallel, hand work between them, and teach a workflow that can be saved as a routine. The company says Bots can run around the clock, including while your laptop is closed. Each user’s Bots share one persistent cloud computer, including its files, browser, and logins; the computer is shared among that user’s Bots rather than isolated per Bot. xAI’s Grok Bot page

ChatGPT Dots: an ongoing agent in ChatGPT

OpenAI describes a Dot as an always-on agent that can track progress, work out next steps, use context from conversations and saved notes, and return with results or questions that need your judgment. Each Dot has a cloud computer and browser for working with research, files, and software; cloud work can continue while your devices are off. OpenAI says connected-information research is read-only, and follow-up actions require applicable permissions. ChatGPT Learn: Meet dots

Access route Available through eligible Cursor, SuperGrok, team, and enterprise plans. Included with eligible ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium plans; some workspace users can access a beta when an administrator enables it.

App access depends on the specific connectors, account permissions, and actions supported. A general description of using apps or websites does not establish that an agent can access every service or perform every action. Check the product’s permission and review controls for the workflow you intend to delegate.

Plans and listed prices

The figures below are published USD monthly list prices shown in the companies’ 2026 plan information. They may vary by region, tax, billing channel, or later price changes. Grok Bot is not listed as a standalone $20 service: its access comes through qualifying subscriptions. Dots likewise are not a separate $100 product; the first Dot is included in eligible ChatGPT plans.

Access route Published price What the source says
Cursor Pro with Grok Bot $20/month xAI lists Grok Bot access, its computer, tool sign-in, scheduled routines, cross-device work, and weekly usage.
SuperGrok with Grok Bot $30/month xAI lists Grok Bot access, the Grok model, connectors, higher limits, and image/video creation. Weekly usage is included; additional usage may be billed based on token cost.
ChatGPT Pro 100 $100/month OpenAI’s Pro tiers documentation lists this monthly tier.
ChatGPT Pro 200 $200/month OpenAI’s Pro tiers documentation lists this monthly tier.
ChatGPT Pro 500 $500/month OpenAI says this tier includes Astra Ultrafast and has the highest included usage among its three Pro tiers.
First ChatGPT Dot No separate charge with eligible Pro or Business Premium plans OpenAI says the plan includes an allowance for deeper work and expanded limits during the first month after launch.

These prices do not establish which service costs less for equivalent work. Grok Bot subscriptions include weekly usage, with possible token-cost billing beyond the included amount; exact included usage depends on plan. OpenAI describes a deeper-work allowance and expanded limits during the first month after launch, but the reviewed plan information does not provide a simple task-equivalent allowance. Business Premium’s price is not established in the sources linked here.

Eligibility, regions, and setup

Where Dots are available

OpenAI says Pro Dots are rolling out in supported markets, excluding the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK. Business Premium access is available across supported ChatGPT regions. Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare users can try the beta when an administrator enables it; it is initially off by default. Rollout is gradual, so having an eligible plan may not mean the feature is already active on your account. OpenAI Help Center: Getting started with your dot

Creating and using a Dot

Create a Dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or on desktop web. OpenAI says you can later message it from the ChatGPT mobile app when supported, but creation on mobile and mobile web is not currently supported. The help page also describes connecting messaging channels such as Slack or texting from desktop; texting may incur message or data charges. OpenAI Help Center: Getting started with your dot

Grok Bot access

xAI lists eligible Cursor plans, SuperGrok plans, Cursor Teams plans, and Enterprise as access routes. Its page names macOS, Windows, and iOS for individual desktop and mobile use, and says Enterprise access is generally available subject to sales setup. Cursor’s plan documentation explains that access may come through an eligible Cursor plan or a linked individual SuperGrok subscription, with included weekly usage depending on the plan. xAI: Meet Grok Bot · Cursor: Plans and billing

Which one should you choose?

Consider Grok Bot if…

  • You want to delegate separate jobs to multiple Bots and have them work in parallel.
  • Saved routines and handing tasks between Bots fit the way you organize recurring work.
  • You are comfortable with the shared-computer model and have an eligible plan that suits your expected usage.

Consider ChatGPT Dots if…

  • You already use an eligible ChatGPT plan and want an agent to keep a task moving across conversations.
  • You prefer one ongoing agent that can use ChatGPT context and return to you for judgment when needed.
  • You are in a supported region and can create the Dot from desktop.

This is a workflow-based distinction drawn from the companies’ descriptions, not a universal performance ranking. Before subscribing, confirm the feature is available to your account, check which apps and actions it can use, and review the included-usage and overage terms for your chosen plan.
