These chat instructions and the address format come from 9to5Mac’s account of the rollout, not an official email-feature guide. The report does not establish whether a specific subscription is required.

Make sure your X account is connected to the Grok account you use.

Confirm you have access to Grok Bot and have created at least one Bot of your own. A Bot shared by another person cannot receive your tagged requests.

In an X post or reply, tag
@botand ask it to set up an email address. The October 9 report says this can initiate the claim. X’s official documentation explains that@botforwards a tagged request to your Grok Bot; it does not confirm the email feature itself.Special offer. SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot documentation lists general access through paid individual Cursor plans and Cursor Teams, or by linking an individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, or SuperGrok Heavy account. Those are general Bot access routes; the documentation does not say which, if any, is required for the new email-address feature.
Check whether the X tagging route is available
SpaceXAI’s documentation says tagging @bot is unavailable for X accounts whose recorded country is Australia, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway. It says tagging works for accounts based in most other countries. The country recorded on the account matters, rather than your current physical location or VPN use.
The regional restriction applies to the X route described here. If you cannot tag @bot, try the chat claim prompt instead; that route is reported as an option, though its availability is not independently detailed in an official email-feature guide.

If @bot does not respond
X’s documentation lists several reasons a tagged request may not reach your Bot:

Your account’s recorded country is in a region where tagging is unavailable.

Check the account connection and tagging details, then retry without a video or GIF. X describes @bot as a forwarding route, not a separate assistant that answers on its own.

What is not confirmed about the email feature
The October 9, 2026 report is the source for the claim workflow, custom-name availability check, and @mail.grokbot.com suffix. The official @bot documentation supports the mechanics and limits of tagging, but does not describe this email feature. The reviewed sources do not establish mailbox controls, privacy or security properties, message retention, deletion options, address ownership terms, or a feature-specific plan requirement. Avoid assuming those details until an official email-feature guide explains them.
