Griha is a household chore ledger built to make shared work—and the arithmetic behind its fairness discussions—visible. Household members can claim chores from a shared board, inspect the factors in a workload calculation, and export records. Its author also describes a TabPFN model that runs in the browser, but says predictions from small household datasets are weak and uncertain. Griha is presented as a progressive web app (PWA), not a synced, cross-device household account.
What Griha is designed to make visible
Household work often includes both doing a task and remembering that it needs doing. When one person carries much of that planning and reminder load, questions such as “did you take the recycling out?” can become arguments about whose recollection is right. Griha’s central idea is to keep a shared record that household members can inspect, rather than asking them to settle fairness from memory alone.

According to creator Aniruddha Adak, members can claim chores from a shared board, see the components contributing to the workload arithmetic, and export a rota or records. The design presents the calculation for discussion; it does not claim to deliver an authoritative verdict on who is fair.
How the fairness calculation and audit trail work
Adak says a pure function named computeFairness, versioned griha-fairness/2026.10.1, calculates the fairness figure and displays each contributing term. That transparency may help household members question the inputs or discuss whether the chosen factors reflect their circumstances. The published description does not independently establish how the calculation behaves for every household or how its inputs should be interpreted.

For record integrity, the author says changes are chained using SHA-384 over the preceding seal and a canonicalized event, with a stored sequence number determining replay order. A hash chain can make changes and ordering inspectable; it does not by itself prove that every recorded event is accurate or that household members entered all relevant work.
What TabPFN adds—and what it cannot decide
Griha’s author describes TabPFN v2 running through the WebTabPFN runtime in the browser. The project article says features, completions, and probabilities stay in the browser, while model weights are fetched once and cached. These are implementation claims by the author, not an independent privacy audit. Readers handling sensitive household information should not treat the description as a guarantee covering every browser, deployment, or network request.

The model is presented as a second opinion, not the core fairness mechanism. Adak reports fitting TabPFN on 20 labelled rows and says probabilities around 0.41–0.45 are treated as uncertain. He describes the model panel as weak on small household datasets, with predictions often near 0.5. That is a useful limitation: a model output should not be treated as an authoritative judgment about a person or as a substitute for the visible workload calculation and household discussion.
Adak reports that browser testing uncovered two issues: a WebGPU feature check did not guarantee a usable GPU adapter, and seeded sample data initially contained only one training label. He says Griha now tries WebGPU/int4 and then WASM/int8, and that sample data was changed to include missed chores. These are the author’s accounts of the fixes, not independently reproduced results.

Sharing, exports, and device limitations
The project article describes Griha as a PWA whose household data is tied to the current browser profile or session. As described, logging in from another device does not bring up the same shared board, so it is not a solution for automatic cross-device household sync. The author says a read-only share link is available as a partial sharing option.

Adak reports 109 unit and integration tests, 91 live checks against the deployed instance, and 26 browser journeys split between desktop and a Pixel 7 viewport. These are project-author-reported verification counts from 2026, not independent test results. They indicate that several testing approaches were used, but do not establish broad reliability across devices, households, or future versions.

TabPFN licensing needs version-specific checking
Prior Labs’ official TabPFN repository describes multiple versions and separate licensing for model weights. It says TabPFN-2.5 and later listed versions use non-commercial licenses, while TabPFN-2 model weights use the Prior Labs License with an additional attribution requirement; the repository also describes enterprise licensing and commercial support. The available project description does not identify the exact weight artifact deployed by Griha or establish the WebTabPFN runtime’s precise license, so those repository terms alone do not settle which terms apply to this app.
Who may find Griha useful
Griha’s distinguishing choice is to make the workload record and its calculation inspectable, rather than simply assigning chores or asserting a fairness score. It may suit a household that wants an auditable record, visible calculation components, and portable exports. Its browser-based model is experimental in the context described by its author, and its reported lack of cross-device sync matters for households that need one board accessible from multiple devices.
For technical readers, the project is also an example of tabular inference presented in a browser. The useful questions to ask of any similar tool are whether it exposes workload arithmetic, whether records can be exported and checked, where inference runs, and whether household data syncs across devices.
