Choose based on the email service you already use, the subscriber data your forms must pass, and the plugin plan that includes the connection. Gravity Forms and WPForms both document integrations with popular email marketing platforms, but service coverage, plan access, and integration features differ. A listed connection does not guarantee that every workflow—such as tagging, conditional enrollment, or double opt-in—is supported in the same way.

Which email marketing services do Gravity Forms and WPForms support?

Both plugins document connections to Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Constant Contact, and AWeber. Their broader catalogs overlap but are not identical, and the service names alone do not establish equivalent capabilities.

What matters beyond the service name?

The useful question is not only whether a connection exists, but whether it supports the subscriber workflow you need. Check the specific integration documentation before building a form or selecting a license.

  • Field mapping: Confirm that form fields can be mapped to the email service’s required and custom subscriber fields.
  • Lists, audiences, and groups: Check how the integration chooses where a subscriber is added and whether it can target the list or audience you use.
  • Tags and segmentation: Verify support for applying tags or group membership if those drive your campaigns.
  • Consent and opt-in: Check the documented consent and double opt-in behavior for that service, rather than assuming the form builder controls it uniformly.
  • Conditional enrollment: If only some form submissions should become subscribers, confirm that the integration supports conditional rules for your use case.

Mailchimp illustrates why integrations need to be compared individually

Gravity Forms’ Mailchimp add-on page specifically documents audience selection, groups, tags, custom fields, double opt-in, and conditional rules. Those capabilities are evidence about its Mailchimp integration—not a promise that every Gravity Forms integration has the same controls. WPForms documents connecting a Mailchimp account and mapping form fields in its Mailchimp guide. Compare the detailed instructions for your own service and workflow before deciding.

How do license tiers affect the choice?

Plan access can decide the comparison before feature details do. As of October 5, 2026, Gravity Forms says its Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Constant Contact, and AWeber add-ons are included with all of its listed licenses: Basic, Pro, Elite, and Nonprofit. WPForms assigns integrations across plan tiers; its current pricing table lists Constant Contact on all plans, several marketing integrations on Plus, Pro, and Elite, and ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, and Salesforce on Elite. Its Mailchimp instructions separately specify Plus or higher.

These are vendor-stated availability details, not a guarantee that a particular license is the best value for your site. Verify the live plan page and the exact add-on requirements before purchasing, especially if you are choosing a tier primarily for one email connection.

What if there is no direct integration?

Automation can provide another route when a direct connection does not meet your needs. Gravity Forms lists Zapier, with availability shown for Pro, Elite, and Nonprofit, and its comparison page discusses Zapier as a flexible option. WPForms documents Zapier, Make, and webhooks in its Zapier add-on documentation and webhooks documentation.

These routes are not automatically equivalent to a native add-on. Check the connector’s supported triggers and actions, the plugin plan required, any third-party subscription or usage charges, and whether the workflow handles the fields and consent signals you need.

Is one plugin easier or more reliable for email integrations?

The available vendor documentation does not establish a controlled, independent head-to-head test of setup time, ease of use, reliability, performance, or email deliverability. Gravity Forms publishes a comparison of the products, but it is a vendor-authored comparison, not independent testing. Integration listings can establish that a vendor documents a connection; they do not prove that one plugin is universally easier or more dependable.

How to choose for your site

  1. Start with your email platform. Look up that exact service in each plugin’s official integration documentation.
  2. Write down the workflow requirements. Identify required fields, audience or list destination, tags or groups, consent handling, double opt-in, and any conditional enrollment rules.
  3. Check plan eligibility. Compare the current plugin plan requirements with the connector’s own plan and usage limits.
  4. Verify the details in the service-specific instructions. Make sure the documented field mapping and subscriber controls cover your actual form.
  5. Consider an automation route only if needed. Confirm its configuration requirements, costs, and behavior before treating it as a substitute for a direct add-on.

If both plugins meet those checks, make the final choice based on your wider form-building needs and the license terms—not on an unsupported assumption that one has more integrations or better reliability.
